Frontline cannabis workers and budtenders.
Every day, people walk into dispensaries carrying far more than simple product questions.
They come with chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, PTSD, cancer diagnoses, autoimmune conditions, menopause symptoms, digestive disorders, migraines, emotional exhaustion, addiction histories, neurodegenerative diseases, and years of frustration from feeling unheard or unsupported elsewhere.

In a previous piece, I explored how many of us lose access to much of what we feel, leaving anger as one of the few emotions still available. This raises a natural question: how much of what we feel in love is truly new—and how much of it is shaped by what we already know?
We often think we fall in love for a single reason. We meet someone, feel a connection, and something opens. There is attraction, curiosity, and a sense of being seen. It feels natural, sometimes even effortless. We tell ourselves it is about shared values, personality, timing, or chemistry.
