Sacred Stream
Sacred Stream is a nonprofit organization and school for consciousness studies based in Berkeley, CA. It also hosts a concert series and guest lectures series.
The Foundation of the Sacred Stream is a non-profit organization and school for consciousness studies dedicated to bringing the wisdom of ancient spiritual and healing traditions into the awareness of contemporary society. It was created on the basic principle that there is a common source of wisdom that underlies all authentic spiritual, cultural and artistic traditions that informs and enlivens them. And while each tradition may take a different form, like plants along a riverbank, each is sustained by the same source. Each workshop we create, each artist or guest teacher we host, and each resource we post on this website is offered to you with the intention of illuminating another way to deepen your own connection to this source, attain a broader perspective, and receive inspiration from it. The Foundation of the Sacred Stream offers a core set of workshops in Depth Hypnosis, Applied Shamanism, Applied Buddhist Psychology, Integrated Energy Medicine and Empowered Living. Past participants have included Dr. Robert Thurman, Geshe Thupten Jinpa, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, and Grammy nominees Barbara Higbie, Liz Story, and Jane Siberry. Through these programs, the Foundation seeks to make these traditions more accessible to the community and empower individuals, like you, to experience themselves and the world in new ways. The Foundation of the Sacred Stream was founded in 2002 and is located in Berkeley, California.

We don’t have to figure everything out at once. Sometimes the most meaningful progress comes from being present, taking one small step, and trusting that the next will become clearer. 💜

October at Sacred Stream offers several ways to deepen practice, explore spiritual inquiry, and gather in community.
This month begins with Circles for the Earth, our monthly online gathering dedicated to bringing contemplative and healing practices to places in the natural world. Later in October, Power Retrieval & the Middle World explores practices within Applied Shamanism, while Spiritual Direction considers the role of spiritual inquiry and religious belief in counseling and service.
We’ll close out the month with an in-person Crystal Bowl Sound Healing Meditation with Laura Chandler at the Sacred Stream Center in Berkeley.
Swipe through for dates and details, and visit our October calendar to learn more about each offering.

Compassion is an inherent human capacity, and it is also something that can be intentionally cultivated through practice.
On November 14 & 15, Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D., and Erika Rosenberg, Ph.D., will lead The Art of Compassion Practice, a two-day, in-person retreat exploring the practice of compassion cultivation.
Hosted by Compassion Institute at the Gyuto Foundation in Richmond, California, the weekend will bring together contemplative practice, discussion, and experiential learning, while offering participants an opportunity to connect with others interested in bringing compassion more fully into their lives, work, and communities.
Early registration is available through September 30.

Coming up Sunday at 10:30 am PT! 💜
📿 Happy to be supporting this program by our friends at Sacred Stream 📿
Esteemed Buddhist scholar Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D. returns to the Sacred Stream to explore how compassion, mindfulness, and the understanding of emptiness can transform the way we relate to difficult emotions and deepen our sense of wellbeing. Jinpa will examine how emotions arise in response to our perceptions of reality, and how mindful awareness can interrupt habitual patterns of anger, attachment, and fear.
Through practical teachings and contemplative insight, Jinpa will demonstrate how “holding” difficult emotions with curiosity and without judgment creates space for greater clarity, compassion, and emotional resilience. This talk will also explore the Buddhist understanding of interdependence and the nature of experience as an antidote to destructive emotional states. Emphasizing compassion as an active, embodied practice, Jinpa will offer ideas for cultivating emotional balance, inner strength, and a more purposeful and compassionate way of living in relationship with others and the world.
All proceeds from this talk go to Gaden Shartse Dokhang Khangston to support the building of a new dorm and prayer hall. Tibetans are invited to attend free of charge.
