The future electricity demand in Texas will be influenced by several key factors: the growth of AI data centers, the increase in electric vehicles (EVs), population growth, and the expansion of Bitcoin mining operations. Here's an estimation approach for each factor:
1. **AI Data Centers**: AI data centers are highly energy-intensive. As an example, a large data center can consume between 10 to 100 MW. Assuming multiple new AI data centers come online, the additional demand could range from 500 MW to 2000 MW.
2. **Electric Vehicles**: According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a typical EV consumes about 0.34 kWh per mile. If Texas adds 1 million EVs, with an average annual mileage of 12,000 miles, this could add approximately 4,080,000 MWh per year or about 466 MW of continuous load.
3. **Population Growth**: Texas's population is growing rapidly. With each new household (considering an average household electricity consumption of around 14,000 kWh/year), the demand can increase significantly. If Texas adds 1 million new residents (about 400,000 households), this could add around 5,600,000 MWh per year or about 640 MW of continuous load.
4. **Bitcoin Mining**: Bitcoin mining operations are also very energy-intensive. A large mining facility might consume around 100 MW. If Texas attracts 5 new large-scale Bitcoin mining operations, this could add approximately 500 MW.
# # # Estimated Total Additional Demand:
- **AI Data Centers**: 500 MW to 2000 MW
- **Electric Vehicles**: 466 MW
- **New Residents**: 640 MW
- **Bitcoin Mining**: 500 MW
Adding these up gives a total additional demand range of approximately 2106 MW to 3606 MW.
# # # Current Capacity:
- Current Capacity: 83,000 MW
# # # Future Capacity Requirement:
- Minimum: 83,000 MW + 2106 MW = 85,106 MW
- Maximum: 83,000 MW + 3606 MW = 86,606 MW
Thus, the Texas electric grid might need to expand to between approximately **85,106 MW and 86,606 MW** to accommodate these new demands in the near future. These are rough estimates and the actual numbers could vary based on technological advancements, energy efficiency improvements, and policy changes.

Attention is the new currency and as more companies use A.I more data will need to be mined by data centers.
Intermittent electricity will definitely be needed to power data centers.
