Finally was able to go work in 95 degree heat after the sun set yesterday and some late summer feedinf for the newer hives. None of those have supers on them yet. We are just trying to get them through our typical West Texas 100-106 F summer heat with a population buildup that's ready for winter when it finally gets here. One hive had decided it was hotter than blue blazes yeaterday and had formed a big beard outside the hive until it cooled off some more.
Feeding was successful. These bees we got from Fain's Bees are VERY nice bees! I didn't use any smoke and only had a single bee across 6 hives that even landed on my hood veil to figure out who I was and what I was doing. No stings on gloves or suit, no angry excited buzzing, just mostly quiet humming bees doing nurse bee and worker bee things.
As a reference, it was still 90F outside last night at 22:30 hours.
It's a hunnert degrees outside again, and I am listening to several hundred bees drinking water in the rain collection tub off the back porch that is set up to give bees a natural water source. The bees are so desperate to drini water as fast as they can and carry it back in their honey stomachs that it sounds like I standing next to an open hive, just without thr harsh banana alert pheromone and no angry bees telling me to get the hell gone or else. Even the paper wasps getting a drink are fairly docile for wasps. I have touched one wasps wing while it was getting a drink and it didn't care!
Watching the bees come in ans go out in their flight lines is facinatin' to me! Meanwhile to the north, there are storms popping up. It would be great to get a rainshower here at the end of June!

Even when it's 100F outside and the wind is being kinda breezy at 20mph, Dry Wash honeybees still got to go forage! This little gal was on the mint plant flowers close to the rainwater collection tub.

When you need to end the day with an out of the oven relief with the warmth of the sun in a jar and not bakin' yer scorched hide, just pop a cork on a Dry Wash Ranch Apiary 4oz jar and add some to a glass of amber adult liquid or put a little in some late day coffee. It will make your day, especially if some of the golden winds up coating the inside of your mouth with sweet honey!
Did a hive check on some of the newer bees, and wound up having to add a 2nd deep to a hive I didn't think was ready yet. Bees are doing great! And about half the mesquites in, around, outside of, and down the road from, the apiary have some late catkin blooms happening on top of the wildflowers starting to bloom after the rain we had over the last 3 weeks. Supposed to get more rain starting tomorrow.

Bee forage update!!! With the recent rains, some native weedy wildflowers are blooming and the bees are all over them!! Also, we had sea urchin hedgehog cactus bloom this morning!!
I will get some pictures up for colony checks if I can get out there this weekend.
