Resilient East Biloxi (REB) was proud to host its third annual Community Festival, centered around this year’s theme, “Share Stories, Grow Resilience.”
The festival celebrated the power of community storytelling and our connection to the environment while honoring the rich history, art, and culture of East Biloxi.
We are so grateful to everyone who came together to share stories, celebrate the community, and help grow resilience across East Biloxi. 💙🌱🌊
Thank you to all of our sponsors and community organizations who make events like this a huge success!

Last week, Nina attended the Restore America's Estuaries (RAE) 2026 Conference and presented her poster, "A Community of Practice Approach to Improving Marsh Modeling for Coastal Decision-Making," during Wednesday evening's poster session.
The poster highlights the work of a multi-organizational Marsh Modeling Community of Practice, led by NOAA, USGS, The Water Institute, and PLACE. The Community of Practice brings together marsh model developers, researchers, and coastal practitioners to improve how predictive tools are understood and applied to coastal resilience decision-making.
Thank you, Nina, for sharing your amazing work!

Last week some of the PLACE team was fortunate to participate in a 2 day workshop for the Community Resilience Center at The Water Institute.
We learned about the outstanding work The Center has done over the past few years, then took a deep dive into 4 focus areas: resilience foundations, migration, insurance and flooding. Our team finished out the workshop with a session to prioritize The Center’s future work.
We are so grateful to work with colleagues doing such outstanding work throughout the Gulf! 🌾🌊
