💡 Did you know? The AAJT-S has a complete removal protocol - and it's already at your fingertips.

Safe, effective use doesn't end with application. Our Application & Removal Guide covers every step, including why removal should always be gradual and monitored: premature removal may result in resumed bleeding.

Trauma care continues to evolve, and protocols evolve with it.

Maryland has updated its statewide Medical Protocols for EMS to include guidance for the use of an abdominal aortic compression device in hemorrhage control - including consideration for patients with junctional or proximal extremity hemorrhage not controllable by standard tourniquets and suspected massive hemorrhage below the diaphragm.

The AAJT-S, the only FDA-cleared device for external abdominal aortic compression, is named in the update's accompanying overview letter.

For agencies reviewing or developing their own protocols, updates like this reflect the continued integration of external aortic compression into modern trauma care.

A junctional gunshot wound. A standard tourniquet with nowhere to go.

In Robeson County, NC, EMS paramedics arrived to a patient in hemorrhagic shock from a GSW to the inguinal region. A limb tourniquet had no application point. They applied the AAJT-S to the abdomen and achieved hemorrhage control immediately.

The patient stabilized with just one unit of blood. Transported to a Level 1 trauma center. Discharged.

This is the exact gap the AAJT-S was built to close.
