Tonight at sundown begins Yom Kippur the most holy day of the year. We are in ten days of repentance called the Days of Awe ~ which is the time of turning to / or returning to God. Every year for ten days, starting with Feast of Trumpets until the end of Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement ~ is a time to turn to God in prayer, for soul searching, and repentance for our sins, and also, making things right with family and friends, turning our lives around and moving in a new direction.
This is a personal encounter with God in the innermost core of our being. A time of humble repentance with brokenness before God and the recognition that our sin deserves judgment and if we pour ourselves out before Him, He will hear us. In the Scriptures it says in the book of 1 John 1:9 says...If we confess our sins (to God), He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
We have been “set right by His grace” and possess “the confident hope of eternal life” through Yeshua our Savior (Titus 3:4–7). God has sealed our names in the Book of Life and given us the Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit as a pledge affirming this (Ephesians 1:13, 4:30). And when Yeshua died, the Temple curtain closing off the place where God’s presence dwelled ripped in two from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51).
The Day of Atonement is a solemn day to acknowledge the high cost of our sin and stand before God in humble gratitude for His precious gift and the provision of forgiveness, cleansing and eternal life through Messiah Yeshua/Jesus. We have every reason to be grateful to the Lord.
One in Messiah meets at 6:30pm, Friday evening @ Christ Church, 5091 Caldwell Mill Road, Birmingham, Al. 35242.

Celebration of Rosh Hashanah / The Feast of Trumpets (also know as Yom T'ruah) begins on the new moon. It is the ONLY Feast of The Lord in which the arrival is dependent upon the confirmed sighting of the new moon before it can officially begin. In ancient times, Jewish religious authorities had to wait until the new moon was actually seen by reliable witnesses. Thus, the authorities did not know when the Feast of Trumpets would actually commence; they did not know the day or hour.
Leviticus 23:23-25
23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy (gathering) convocation. 25 You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”
Matthew 24:31
31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

One in Messiah Messianic Congregation is having our Passover Seder on April 3, 2026 @ 6pm. If you would like to come, go to our website at www.oimmc.org and register and pay. No reservations after March 31, 2026.
What is Passover and why do we celebrate it? Pesach is the Hebrew word for Passover and it commemorates the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt. They had been held in slavery for 400 years. We are told in Exodus 12, that we were to keep the feasts of the LORD forever and Passover is first of the seven feasts. We are instructed to keep them throughout all our generations, as a statute forever.
Pesach/Passover is the first of God's appointed festivals. The matzah is the unleavened bread and leavening is a symbol of sin. In the Scriptures, Yeshua went to the temple before the Passover Feast and cleansed it from the "leaven"- the corruption.. of the money changers ...who were doing business inside the temple. (read John 2:13-16)
It was through the blood of the lamb, which was placed on the doorposts of the homes in Egypt, that the Israelites were saved from the last of the ten plagues—the death of the firstborn.
A central lesson of the Passover lamb is that its shed blood caused the death angel to “pass over” those who applied it to their homes in Egypt.
Yeshua is our Passover Lamb and he cleanses us from sin.
We commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua our Messiah, who is our Passover Lamb! Yeshua's blood delivers us from slavery to sin.
The Passover is the illustration of God's redemptive plan for all of mankind. Yeshua gave Himself up, as a Lamb to the slaughter, so we could have freedom from sin and death.
(read Isaiah 53:6-7)
May God's blessings be on you as you celebrate this Passover and I hope and pray you will have a glorious night celebrating God's gift, our Passover Lamb, Yeshua!

You've got to read this...It's an awesome teaching!

The first time that a shofar appears in the Bible, it isn’t blown. It isn’t even mentioned by name. It’s just described:

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. (Genesis 22:13)

The ram’s horn, which makes the most otherworldly sound when we blow it, plays a significant part in the account of Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac. God tests Abraham when He asks the founding father of our faith to bind and sacrifice his son, and the story is full of parallels with God’s own heart wrenching sacrifice of His own Son: the Lamb that would be slain instead of us. It’s in this story, which features the first mention of the word love, that the shofar first appears, and horns become a symbol of strength and salvation from that moment on. Its significance ripples out like a stone thrown into a lake.

The blast of the shofar calls to the deep, cutting through to the soul. It stirs our spirit and invites us with insistence, “Pay attention!” It’s essentially a musical instrument (of sorts) fashioned by God Himself, and as such the sound calls to us from heaven when we hear it. However not only does the shofar itself hold spiritual significance, but the act of blowing the shofar is also worth meditating on.

Blow a trumpet in Zion; sound an alarm on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming; it is near. (Joel 2:1)

The blowing of the shofar is used not only to warn of danger, but also as an actual weapon of war, when we think of Joshua circling Jericho and blowing the shofar, or Gideon and his 300 merry men, who whipped out their torches in clay pots and blew their shofars, striking such terror into their enemies that they ran away without a fight. And blowing the shofar can also be used as a declaration of victory when the battle is won.

We are in the holidays of the Fall Feasts - Yom Teruah - Day of Trumpets (blowing) and is the first of the 3 High Holy Days, as specified by Leviticus 23:23–25. These festivals occur in the late summer/early autumn. Yom Teruah involves blowing of the shofar (ram's horn) and marks the beginning of the fall feasts. This is the beginning of the 10 days of repentance where we seek God's forgiveness and also to make things right with others. The next fall feast is Yom Kippur/ the Day of Atonement. where we repent of our sins and make things right with the LORD. The final Fall Feast is Sukkot/ Tabernacles and is a seven day festival recalling Israel's forty year journeying in the desert. The Jews built temporary booths/dwellings called sukkahs and dwelt them during their time in the desert. These feast days represent events that Yeshua/Jesus will fulfill in the near future. We celebrate these holy days - Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah represents events connected with the second coming of Messiah Yeshua/Jesus. Yom Kippur is marked by his people recognizing Yeshua as the Messiah and repenting and turning away from sin and pride. Sukkot shows the future dwelling with his people in the millennial kingdom in heaven. These days are here now and we welcome you to come and enjoy the rich teachings of the Word of God.
