Data centers are on many people’s minds. One sign of that are the crowds who showed up to last week’s Birmingham City Council meeting where new data center regulations were passed. But the issue is much bigger and more complicated than one municipal meeting.

In the animal world, it’s often the biggest or fastest animals that get the attention.

But a new exhibit opening this Saturday at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham features animals that don’t always receive top billing.

"Survival of the Slowest" shows how these animals survive and thrive through adaptations like camouflage and energy conservation. Those traits can help animals overcome their lack of speed, size or strength.

The exhibit also features live animals including a two-toed sloth, boa constrictors and a green iguana.
