🧬💻 The 5th Human Reference Atlas (HRA) Hackathon is underway!
Today and tomorrow, researchers, programmers, P*s, and key team members come together virtually and in Berlin for two days of collaboration, coding, and building!
Teams from HuBMAP, SenNet, CFDE, KPMP, and the Whole Person Project are joining forces to explore how the Human Reference Atlas (HRA) can connect with and support other human atlassing efforts.
The goal? Turn ideas into action. 🚀
🔹 Tackle focused coding and data projects
🔹 Build MVPs and prototypes
🔹 Strengthen connections across programs
🔹 Advance the future of human atlas research
We can’t wait to see what comes out of two days of great minds, great data, and great collaboration!

The Visualization Viewpoint “Challenges and Opportunities for Theory-Grounded Data Visualization in Extended Reality” has been published in the July–August issue of IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications: https://lnkd.in/gDhZCMyv
The paper is also featured on the IEEE CG&A landing page today!
In this work, Andreas Bueckle, Christiane V. R. Hütter, Renata Raidou, Chris Bryan, Peter Mindek, Hannes Kaufmann, Niklas Elmqvist, Jörg Menche, and Katy Borner synthesize key challenges and opportunities for theory-grounded data visualization in extended reality (XR), examining how established visualization principles translate to and expand within immersive environments.
The Visualization Viewpoint builds on insights and results from the authors’ IEEE VIS 2025 panel on the same topic: https://www.computer.org/csdl/magazine/cg/2026/04/11626641/2iuF8a4JRxm
A special thank-you to Theresa-Marie Rhyne for her excellent editorial support.
