Stay tuned - an immigration judge set a $10,000 bond on October 2nd for César Cepeda Gomez, a Bloomington resident detained by ICE in September. The B Square Bulletin reports that the hearing followed a successful federal court challenge to his detention. His asylum case remains pending. His case comes amid broader concerns about immigration enforcement in Bloomington. In an interview recorded in September, local immigration attorney Christie Popp spoke with WFHB News about the fear she was hearing from immigrants and their families. We revisit that conversation now.

We had a wonderful time chatting with him about maqam traditions, bringing them together with jazz and Western classical music, and his Bloomington connections. This unique blend of traditional Korean and rock is something you won’t want to miss this year at Lotus festival. From the beautiful voice of Insun Park and her generals unique sounds including a Korean tarpyeongso flute and finger drums, they bring something fresh and new to Lotus Fest and it was such a pleasure to have them at the WFHB studio!
