We meet every Sunday at 4114 E. Oakland Ave. in Bloomington, IL at 10 AM, and we exist to live like Jesus lived, think like he thought, and do what he taught.

Compass is a church that is all about making God accessible to everyone. We know that God has direction for everyone's life and want to do everything we can to help point you the right way. At Compass, we have a passion to lead people into right relationship with God and with others, and we do everything we can to create environments where those connections can happen.

Tight shoulders. A clenched jaw. Conversations playing out in your mind before they happen.

Sometimes you have been bracing for so long that tension starts to feel normal.

Jesus does not promise that every problem will instantly disappear. He promises that you do not have to carry the weight alone.

We keep waiting for peace to arrive after the conflict ends, the answer comes, or the problem is solved.

But Jesus describes a peace that can exist while life is still unresolved.

Peace is found in the presence of Jesus, not the absence of conflict.

God works everything for the good of those who love him. Romans 8:28 sounds comforting until life falls apart.

What does it mean when the situation isn’t good, the outcome isn’t what you prayed for, and you can’t see how any of it could have a purpose?

Maybe you’ve lost something you can’t replace. Maybe you’re angry with God, questioning what you believe, or barely holding on. Maybe someone told you that everything happens for a reason, but that answer only made the pain feel heavier.

There has to be a more honest way to talk about suffering, doubt, and God’s promise to work everything for good without pretending that bad things are secretly good. What has Romans 8:28 meant to you during a hard season?

Sometimes being overwhelmed becomes another reason to criticize ourselves.

We feel anxious, then feel guilty for being anxious. We feel exhausted, then tell ourselves we should be stronger.

But Jesus calls peace a gift. He invites tired people to come to him, not to become better at carrying everything alone.

Compass is collecting school supplies and backpacks for kids in foster care, and those served by our local social service agencies.

Pick up a backpack. Stuff it. Bring it back. It’s that easy to help a local child in need get an education. Grab an empty backpack this Sunday at Compass!

Have you ever noticed how hard it is to relax, even when nothing is wrong right now?

Your shoulders stay tense. Your mind keeps racing ahead. You replay conversations that haven’t happened yet and prepare for problems that may never come.

After a while, bracing for the worst can start to feel normal.

But what if peace is possible before everything gets fixed? What if you don’t have to wait for life to settle down before you can breathe again?

This message explores what Jesus says to people who feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and tired of carrying too much.

Tag someone who has been carrying a lot lately.
