The intersection of West 2nd Street and South Rogers Street has officially reopened! This marks the completion of a key stage in the Patterson/Grimes/Rogers resurfacing project, which is being coordinated in conjunction with the Bloomington Convention Center expansion.

Thanks to all residents and visitors for your patience during the closure and for following posted signage to keep our streets safe. Please continue to drive carefully as traffic patterns adjust, and stay tuned for more updates as we work to keep Bloomington moving safely and efficiently.

Heads up, Bloomington! Third Street between Walnut Street and College Avenue will be closed for a week starting Tuesday, August 25, as work continues on the Bloomington Convention Center.

This closure will allow crews to build new curbs, sidewalks, crosswalks, medians, asphalt paving, and a bus pull-off—improvements that will make our streets safer and more accessible for everyone.

Please plan ahead for detours and give yourself a little extra time to get where you’re going.

Once complete, the expanded Convention Center will help our city attract more conferences and events, bringing more visitors to local hotels, restaurants, and shops—boosting our economy, especially during slower times of year.

The City of Bloomington is facilitating the street closure, but is not leading the construction project itself.
