Dear Congregation,
It is a sacred blessing that God calls both women and men to servant leadership in the Body of Christ. Some are called to pastoral leadership, service in missions, preaching, teaching, etc. If God calls a woman or man to serve in vocational ministry, He is faithful to equip them and prepare them for that role.

The Global Methodist Church and Blue Ridge Methodist Church affirms and blesses those who have been called and confirmed to serve in ministry. God calls both women and men.

All of you know that Pastor Laura and I are a clergy couple, equally ordained as Elders, serving as pastors together. We are blessed that both our calls have been fully affirmed and supported by the church. My heart aches for so many women and girls affected by the Southern Baptist Convention’s decision to strengthen their voice against women in the ordained ministry and pastoral roles in the church. I pray that they will receive the support they deserve in discerning their calls to ministry. I don’t know where we would be without the faithful women’s voices speaking into our calls and leading in the church.

For Laura’s recent ordination as Elder, I am framing a copy of this portrait of Susanna Wesley, The Mother of Methodism. It was her strong preaching, teaching, and leading that prepared John and Charles Wesley and led them to affirm women preachers. As a result, the greater Wesleyan/Methodist movement has known many wonderful women called by God to PREACH the Gospel!

I am so thankful for every Disciple of Jesus Christ that is called to serve His body!
