I hadn’t realized a whole year had passed until I saw the burnweed blowing in the breeze again.

American burnweed grows tall and wild here in North Georgia, and toward the end of summer, its flowers turn to these soft white seeds, like dandelions.

Eventually the wind catches them and carries them away, little pieces of white fluff floating through the air.

They were doing that last September when we said goodbye to EDDIE - she spent her last day on the sunny hill at Peaceful Peak and the burnweed seeds blew all around us.

And the other day, I was walking our new property and there they were again.

A whole year.

It’s strange how grief keeps time by things you didn’t even realize you had attached a memory to.

For the rest of this life, we will think of EDDIE when those little white seeds start floating through the September air.

We all miss you, sweet girl and we always will. 🥹🫶🏽
