* At 631 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Twenty-five years later, September 11 remains a day to remember the lives lost, honor the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and recognize those who continue to answer the call to serve their communities.

We are also incredibly grateful to United Community Bank for their generous $1,000 donation to the Fannin County Volunteer Fire Department. This contribution will directly support the men and women who volunteer their time to protect and serve the citizens of Fannin County.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Raymond Green, Glenda Green, Roy Green, and G & N Enterprises, Inc. for the incredible work they put into constructing our new September 11th Memorial.

This monument was created to permanently display and protect an actual piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center and to ensure that the sacrifice, courage, and unity witnessed on September 11, 2001, are never forgotten.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail that the Green family put into this memorial are truly outstanding. From the Twin Towers and American flag to the Pentagon and Flight 93, every element carries meaning and helps honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We are incredibly grateful to Raymond, Glenda, and their son Roy, along with G & N Enterprises, for using their talents to create something that will stand in Fannin County for generations.

The monument is permanently displayed in the lobby of Fannin County Fire Department Headquarters, 20 Station Ridge, Blue Ridge, GA 30513. We welcome members of our community to stop by and see this special memorial.

25 YEARS LATER — WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

Today, our community came together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001 and to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The ceremony included an invocation by retired District Fire Chief Eric Chastain, the National Anthem performed by Shannon York, and remarks from Fire Chief Larry Thomas. We were honored to hear from Officer Dustin Carder and Officer Justin Turner of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, Fannin County Commission Chairman Jamie Hensley, Georgia District 7 Representative Johnny Chastain, retired Battalion Chief Leigh Hollins, and special guest speaker Deputy Commissioner Tony Pritchett of the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire.

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was the unveiling of our new 9/11 memorial monument, which contains an actual piece of the World Trade Center. This piece of history now has a permanent home in Fannin County, where future generations can see it, remember what happened on that September morning, and understand the tremendous sacrifice made by so many.

The memorial presentation was made by Leigh and Janet Hollins, the Green Family, Fire Chief Larry Thomas and Deputy Chief Rob Ross.

We also officially dedicated and placed Fannin County Fire Department Ladder 1 into service. While today was first and foremost a day of remembrance, putting this new apparatus into service was a fitting reminder that the tradition of service demonstrated by first responders on September 11 continues in communities across America every day.

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated in the ceremony, helped make the memorial possible, and joined us in honoring those we lost.

Twenty-five years have passed, but our promise remains the same:

We will remember the lives lost.
We will remember the heroes.
We will remember the families.

🇺🇸 Never Forget — September 11, 2001

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives that were lost, the families who never saw their loved ones come home, and the first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape it.

For those of us in the fire and emergency services, September 11 will always carry a special meaning. We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives that day, along with the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and many others who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

Uniforms are requested to be worn by Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS and Military personnel. A hot dog cookout for the community will follow. Please join us.

Please join Fannin County Fire & EMS on Friday, September 11 for a public memorial service honoring the lives lost on 9/11 and the first responders who answered the call.

The service begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Fannin County Agricultural Facility and will include special presentations, the dedication of FCFD’s new aerial ladder truck, and a community cookout afterward.
