Mindful Sprouts
Enhancing children's behaviors for a brighter future.

Playtime is already full of opportunities for communication, you don’t necessarily need a special activity to make it language-rich.
Try following your child’s interests, describing what they’re doing, adding a word or two to what they say, repeating useful language naturally, or joining them in a little pretend play.
For example, if your child says “car,” you might respond with “red car” or “the car is going fast.” Small moments like these can introduce new vocabulary and model how words come together during an activity your child already enjoys.
The goal isn’t to turn playtime into a quiz. It’s to make language part of the fun and connection that are already happening.

Sensory activities at home don’t need to involve complicated setups or a long list of supplies.
Sometimes it can be as simple as scooping and pouring from a sensory bin, squeezing playdough, pushing a laundry basket, playing with water, or spending a little time in a quiet sensory space.
The important part is finding what feels supportive for your child. Some children seek movement or pressure, while others may prefer quieter activities or certain textures—and those needs can change depending on the day.
Start small, follow your child’s cues, and keep the activities that seem to work well for them.
Looking for more ideas? We’ve rounded up 15 parent-friendly sensory activities for kids with autism to try at home.

Sensory overload doesn’t always begin with an obvious meltdown.
Sometimes the first clues are much quieter—a child covering their ears, becoming more irritable, stimming more than usual, repeating the same words or questions, or suddenly wanting to leave.
And it isn’t always one sound, light, or sensation causing the overwhelm. Sensory input can build throughout the day, especially when things like tiredness, hunger, transitions, crowds, or added demands are already part of the picture.
Learning to notice those earlier signs and patterns can help parents better understand when their child may be reaching their limit, and what kinds of support may help in the moment.
Science Day brought a little extra curiosity—and plenty of excitement—to the center.
The kids got to explore, experiment, and enjoy a fun change from the usual routine, while our team fully embraced the mad-scientist theme. 😄
We love creating moments like this that make the center feel playful, engaging, and full of things to discover.

Hearing that your child needs an ABA assessment can come with a lot of questions:
What will happen? What are they looking for? And what happens afterward?
An ABA assessment is not another autism evaluation. Instead, it helps the BCBA understand your child’s current skills, strengths, daily challenges, and support needs so recommendations and treatment goals can be built around where your child is starting.
Parents and caregivers are an important part of that process, too. Your perspective on everyday routines, challenges, progress, and priorities helps provide a fuller picture than one observation alone.
Knowing what to expect can make the process feel a little more familiar before you walk in.
