Licensed psychologist Beverly J. Pedroche, PsyD likes to say that she helps awesome women (and she believes all women are awesome, they just may not know it yet) become more awesome through the process of psychotherapy. Dr. Pedroche completed her BS in psychology at Rowan University and her MS and PsyD in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University. It’s self-care Saturday and I am making time for two of my favorite activities of self-care: reading and baking.
📖 Reading: Hollow Bones
🥮 Baking: Cranberry, Apple, Pecan Bundt Cake
What are you doing to prioritize self-care this weekend?
And for my fellow readers, what are you reading?
I recently read The Hearts Invisible Furies and was surprised by the tragic yet hilarious tone. I laughed. I cried. I learned. I could (and may) read this book again!

Reading for pleasure is linked to better mental health, greater empathy, and a lower risk of dementia, says researchers at the university of Cambridge.
A neuroscience study commissioned by the Queen’s reading room in 2024 found that just five minutes of fiction can reduce stress by up to 20% as well as boosting, concentration and problem-solving skills and helping readers PL less lonely.
If you are a reader, what are you reading currently? And what benefits do you find from reading?
One of my favorite benefits of reading is that I learn something from every book that I read. I recently read The Collected Regrets of Clover and learned about death doulas. If you’ve read it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
