Juneteenth, observed on June 19, commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

This day serves as an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate freedom, honor resilience, and continue learning about the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice for all.

At SLAM Boca, we encourage our community to learn, reflect, and celebrate the significance of Juneteenth and its lasting impact on American history.
