Shower first, swim second!
Did you know that the strong "chlorine smell" at some pools is NOT from too much chlorine? ๐ฎ
It comes from chlorine mixing with sweat, oils, sunscreen and lotion from our bodies. That's what causes red eyes, itchy skin and cloudy water.
A quick 1-minute rinse before swimming:
Keeps the water cleaner and safer
Helps your chlorine fight germs
Protects your filter and equipment
Saves you money on chemicals
Small habit, big difference!

Fall Pool Care: Keep Debris Away From Your Pool
Fall means more leaves, branches, flowers, and debris around the pool.
A few simple things can help:
โข Trim tree branches away from the pool
โข Blow leaves and debris off the pool deck regularly
โข Keep skimmer baskets clean
โข Remove leaves before they build up in the water
Too much debris can clog the skimmer, restrict water flow, make the pump work harder, and reduce filtration. Leaves and organic debris can also add phosphates to the water and increase the chance of algae.
Keeping the deck and surrounding area clean helps your pool stay cleaner and can also help your pump and filtration equipment last longer.

Answer: Slightly downward, at about a 30-45ยฐ angle.
Here's why it matters:
Pointing jets down pushes water toward the bottom and creates a circular flow that helps push debris toward your main drain
It also helps mix water temperature top to bottom, so you don't get a warm layer on top and cold underneath
Better circulation = chemicals (chlorine, etc.) spread evenly instead of pooling in one area
Pointing them up can look nice for surface movement, but it does less for actual circulation and debris control.
Small adjustment, big difference in water clarity. If your jets are locked in one position or not adjustable, we can help.

Pool Tip Tuesday: Picking the Right Pump Size
Bigger isn't always better! An oversized pump wastes energy โ an undersized one won't filter your water properly.
Quick rule: your pump should turn over your ENTIRE pool's water every 8 hours.
Simple fรณrmula:
Pool gallons รท 8 hours = gallons per hour (GPH) you need
Not sure how many gallons your pool holds? Drop your pool size in the comments and we'll help you figure it out!

Heavy rain can dilute chlorine, stabilizer, salt, and other important chemicals. Storms also carry leaves, dirt, fertilizer, and other contaminants into the water. Combined with Floridaโs warm temperatures, this can quickly create the perfect conditions for algae.
After a storm, remove debris, empty the baskets, run the filtration system, and test the water before adding chemicals.

A lot of people think a salt pool is โchlorine-free,โ but thatโs not really true.
A salt pool is still a chlorine pool.
The difference is how the chlorine gets into the water:
A traditional chlorine pool has chlorine added manually.
A salt pool uses a salt chlorine generator to convert salt in the water into chlorine.
Thatโs basically it.
Both pools still need proper pH, alkalinity, stabilizer, calcium and chlorine levels to stay clean, safe and protect the pool surface and equipment.
Salt systems can make chlorine production more automatic and consistent, but they do not eliminate chlorine or regular pool maintenance.

What Are Those Little White โVolcanoesโ on Your Pool Surface?
Theyโre called "calcium nodules", and they are often misunderstood.
Unlike normal calcium scale that forms on top of the pool surface because of water chemistry, calcium nodules usually begin **behind the plaster**.
Small cracks, pinholes, hollow areas, or separation between the plaster and the pool shell can allow pool water to get underneath the finish. Once water reaches that area, it creates a calcium-rich environment behind the plaster.
That calcium-rich water slowly finds its way back through the tiny crack or pinhole. When it reaches the pool water, a chemical reaction occurs and **calcium carbonate begins to build up around that opening**.
Over time, it creates those small, hard, white spots that sometimes look like tiny **volcanoes** growing out of the pool surface.
Important: Calcium nodules are not automatically a sign of poor weekly pool service or bad chemical maintenance.
In many cases, the underlying cause is related to the pool surface itself โ such as:
โข Poor bonding between plaster and the pool shell
โข Delamination or hollow areas behind the plaster
โข Hairline cracks or pinholes
โข Improper plaster preparation or application
โข Movement or aging of the pool structure
Sometimes these problems don't appear until **many years after the pool was built or resurfaced.
Maintaining properly balanced water is extremely important for protecting your pool, but when true calcium nodules appear, simply adjusting the chemicals usually won't fix the underlying problem.
Understanding where the calcium is coming from is the first step toward determining the correct repair.

Why Hire a Professional Pool Service?
Keeping a pool clean is more than removing leaves. Proper water chemistry, filtration, circulation, and equipment maintenance all work together to protect your pool.
A professional pool service can help you:
Keep the water clean, clear, and properly balanced
Prevent algae and water-quality problems
Catch small equipment issues before they become expensive repairs
Extend the life of pumps, filters, heaters, and pool surfaces
Save time and avoid unnecessary chemical costs
Especially in Florida, where heat, rain, and heavy pool use can change water chemistry quickly, consistent professional maintenance makes a big difference.

Is Your Pool Losing Water?
A small pool leak can quickly become an expensive problem. It may increase your water bill, waste chemicals, damadge pool equipment, erode surrounding soil, and potentially affect nearby decks or structures.
Warning signs include:
โข Unusual water loss
โข Wet areas around the pool or equipment
โข Air entering the pump
โข Higher water bills
โข Cracks or shifting tiles
Early leak detection can prevent major repairs and protect your pool and property. If you suspect a leak, contact a pool professional before the problem gets worse.
