🚨 Did You Know? 9 out of 10 drowning deaths happen when a caregiver is nearby—but not fully paying attention. Water safety starts with active supervision and layers of protection.
At Florida Swim School, we believe drowning prevention goes beyond swim lessons. It includes:
✅ Constant, distraction-free supervision
✅ Learning to swim at an early age
✅ Four-sided pool fencing with self-latching gates
✅ CPR and emergency preparedness
✅ Wearing life jackets around open water—even for strong swimmers
Swimming is one of life’s greatest gifts, and families deserve the confidence to enjoy the water safely together. Our swim lessons help children build life-saving skills while teaching families how to create safer aquatic environments.

Water safety starts before anyone gets in the water. 💙
Did you know drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death for children? The good news is that many water-related accidents can be prevented with a few simple steps:
✅ Wear a properly fitted life jacket when appropriate
✅ Enroll children in quality swim lessons to build water competency and confidence
✅ Designate a dedicated Water Watcher who stays focused on the water at all times—no phones, no distractions
At Florida Swim School, we believe layers of protection save lives. Learning to swim is an essential life skill, but active supervision and water safety habits are just as important.
Let’s make every pool day, beach day, and boat day a safer one. 🌊

🏊♂️ Water competency is a family affair. 💙
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently released updated drowning prevention guidance, emphasizing the importance of family involvement, ongoing swim instruction, and building water competency from an early age.
One key recommendation? Aquatic experiences for infants with a parent.
At Florida Swim School, we’ve been helping families get comfortable in the water together for decades through our Baby & Me swim lessons starting as young as 3 months old.
Our Baby & Me classes are designed to help infants and caregivers build confidence in the water while learning:
💦 Proper handling techniques for babies in the water
💦 Foundational water safety skills
💦 Water comfort for both baby and caregiver
💦 Lifelong habits that support safer experiences around water
The AAP’s updated guidance reinforces what we believe every day: water safety isn’t a one-time lesson—it’s a journey that starts early and grows with your child.
Whether you’re introducing your baby to the water for the first time or continuing to build their swim skills as they grow, consistent swim instruction and parent involvement can make a lasting difference.
📖 We’ve linked the full AAP drowning prevention reports and resources in our bio for families who want to learn more.
Because swimming isn’t just a sport—it’s a skill for life. 🏊♀️

Did you know 23% of child drownings happen during a family gathering near a pool? During parties, BBQs, birthdays, and family events, distractions happen fast — and children can slip away to the swimming pool silently and unnoticed in seconds.
At Florida Swim School in Boca Raton, we believe layers of protection save lives. Water safety for kids should always include active adult supervision, pool fences, swim lessons, designated water watchers, and emergency preparedness. The 5 Layers of Protection help prevent drowning accidents before they happen.
If you’re hosting a pool party or spending time around water in South Florida this summer, assign one adult whose only job is watching the pool and water features at all times. Drowning is quick, silent, and preventable.
Enrolling children in swim lessons and water safety classes helps build confidence, stronger swimming skills, and life-saving habits around the water. Florida Swim School offers indoor swim lessons in Boca Raton for babies, toddlers, children, and adults year-round.

Founded by HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco, the Foundation continues to help give children life-saving swim skills, confidence in the water, and access to opportunities that every child deserves.
At Florida Swim School in Boca Raton, we see firsthand how swim lessons can change — and even save — lives. Through these grants, more children have been able to access essential water safety education, learn how to swim, and build confidence in and around the water.
Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death for children, which is why partnerships like this are so important. We are beyond grateful to continue supporting the mission of making water safety education and swim lessons accessible to all families.
