For athletes who train hard, compete harder, and still can't get out of their own head I am currently providing Telehealth and licensed in FL, VA, CO, CT and NY
Athletes are often taught to push through, but sometimes the most important thing we can learn is that we don’t have to do everything perfectly.
Talking with Sharla Peterson reminded me of how difficult it can be to give ourselves permission to simply do the best we can with where we are.
When I was injured, I spent months in so much pain that I couldn’t even think about walking, running, or getting on a bike. But I also didn’t think about the things I could do - stretching, practicing deep breathing, and taking care of myself in smaller ways.
Sometimes adapting isn’t giving up. It’s accepting where you are and finding a way to keep moving forward from there.

It’s so important to talk about the hidden losses of a major injury beyond the physical—routine, outlet, teammates, progress, and identity—and why asking 'Who am I while I'm not playing?' is crucial for recovery.
Sometimes resilience looks like finding a way to keep going when everything around you has changed.
After ending up in the hospital, Sharla Peterson realized she didn’t have to completely abandon the 90-day challenge she had committed to. She adapted it.
She couldn’t do everything the way she had before, but she found what she could do - drink her water, move her body, push herself in a wheelchair, read, and stick to her meal plan.
It wasn’t going to be perfect. But it didn’t have to be.
Sometimes giving yourself something meaningful to focus on can help you move through a difficult season, one small step at a time.

What happens when the life you’ve built around your body suddenly changes?
This week on Imperfectly Human, Rachel sits down with Sharla Peterson for a powerful conversation about injury, identity, resilience, and finding your way forward when life doesn’t go according to plan.
It’s not just about what happened. It’s about what comes next - and who you become along the way.
🎙️ Tune in Tuesday for the audio episode on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and watch the full video episode on YouTube Friday.
I also created a GoFundMe for Sharla to help her make her bathroom and kitchen accessible for her and her wheelchair.

As a founder, it’s easy to become so focused on the vision that you stop seeing what you might be missing.
Adam House shares why having the right advisors around you can make such a difference. It’s not just about having people who watch the business, but people who care about you as a human being, too.
Founders can have a clear picture of where they want to go while still overlooking what might not make sense from the outside. Having trusted people who can challenge your thinking, protect your best interests, and help you see the bigger picture can be invaluable.
You don’t have to build everything alone.

Asking for help doesn’t make you weak. It can actually be one of the strongest things you can do.
I talked about this with Adam House because I think so many people - especially in business - feel like they’re supposed to figure everything out on their own. But needing support isn’t a failure. It’s part of being human.
Sometimes asking for help looks like finding a mentor, working with a coach, talking to a therapist, or simply reaching out to someone who has experience you don’t.
You don’t have to do everything on your own. And you don’t have to prove your strength by carrying everything alone.

When a veteran needs help, having thousands of organizations to choose from doesn’t necessarily make getting help easier.
Adam House explains how fragmented veteran services can leave people overwhelmed and unsure of where to turn. With more than 40,000 veteran service organizations across the country, the challenge isn’t always a lack of people who want to help—it’s making sure those resources are connected, accessible, and available when they’re needed.
Because when someone is in crisis, waiting months for support isn’t an option.

What if failure isn’t the thing holding you back… but the thing helping you grow?
This week on Imperfectly Human, I’m sitting down with Adam House Sr. for a conversation about failure, resilience, identity, and what it really takes to keep moving forward when life doesn’t go according to plan.
From building businesses to chasing an unexpected dream, Adam’s story is a reminder that success isn’t always a straight line - and sometimes the biggest lessons come from the moments that don’t work out.

We prepare athletes for competition, pressure, losses, and performance - but are we preparing them for life after sport?
Because when the sport ends, it’s not just the game that disappears.
The structure changes.
The team changes.
The goals change.
And sometimes, your sense of identity changes too.
That’s why conversations about identity beyond sport shouldn’t wait until retirement. They need to start while you’re still playing.
Your sport is a chapter of your story - not the entire story. ❤️
Who are you beyond the athlete?
