Lionhearted Counseling LLC
Customized therapy can help you heal from whatever issues are holding you back.
Therapy can help you start asking yourself more eye-opening questions. 🔍
Instead of reacting and asking, “Why am I like this?”, you start looking at the story behind it with more honesty and compassion.
You may also realize that some of your old patterns once helped you get through something in the past:
💭 Maybe people-pleasing helped you feel safe.
💭 Shutting down was your way to avoid conflict.
💭 Overexplaining might have made you feel less misunderstood, or trying to control things could have made things less volatile or unpredictable.
These patterns didn’t happen by accident. They were ways your mind and body learned to protect you during tough times.
Now, the work is figuring out which patterns still help you, which ones are hurting you, and what new responses you can try instead. We can help you with that. 🦁💙

For many people, the biggest challenge to healing is not a lack of motivation. Instead, it is the emotional weight that makes progress feel much heavier and harder than it needs to be. ⚓
Unresolved grief, past trauma, relationship wounds, self-doubt, and anxiety can create friction that makes it difficult to focus on the work.
You might be capable, motivated, and know what needs to change, but still feel stuck because deeper patterns keep holding you back. 🧠💢
Intensive Therapy at Lionhearted offers focused time to target these factors beneath the surface.
Our longer, more concentrated sessions help identify what’s keeping you stuck, process what has been carried for too long, and build tools that support lasting improvement.
If you’re ready for deeper work, we’ll be right here. Learn more:

How long has it been since you’ve been in a space that lets you slow down and fully let go? 😮💨
The environments you spend time in can dictate and decide what feels normal to you.
If you’re constantly surrounded by criticism, pressure, tension, and demands, your mind has less room to settle, your body stays braced, and rest remains elusive.
You deserve spaces that can help you change how you feel inside. Places where your shoulders drop, your voice softens, and your mind can rest. 🧠
If you need a helping hand and a friendly face, Lionhearted Counseling is here to sit with you.
With us, you never have to perform, prove, explain, or hold everything together on your own. 🦁💙
Meaningful conversations require balance: attentive listening, honest sharing, and equal participation from both parties.
Effective conversations are not lectures, performances, or opportunities to withdraw. They succeed when empathy and assertiveness combine, ensuring everyone is heard and understood.

How to Have Meaningful Conversations Talking too much shuts down others, while talking too little can be boring. Learning to elaborate personal stories sufficiently to be interesting is a skill worth developing.

💙 GOOD READ OF THE MONTH 💙
Healing can begin when we start analyzing the toxic or unhelpful traits and patterns we picked up before we even knew how to describe them.
In “It Didn’t Start with You,” author Mark Wolynn dives into the effect of trauma, fear, anxiety, and emotional pain passed down through families, even if the original cause is forgotten or never talked about.
This book is a great choice for anyone interested in family patterns, old wounds, and how awareness can help in healing.
Read along and let us know what you think. 📖
Sometimes rushing has less to do with the clock and more to do with a body that has spent too long under pressure.
Once a rushed pace becomes your normal, slowing down can make you feel restless, anxious, and uncomfortable. 🚨
❌ Any form of rest and recreation can start to feel unearned.
❌ A pause in your routine can feel like you’re falling behind.
❌ You may even want to clean, plan, scroll, or fix something when you don’t have anything else to do.
A mindset conditioned this way will always look for things to do. If left unchecked, it will push you straight into exhaustion, burnout, and emotional shutdown.
👉 It’s okay to slow down. You are allowed to take your time, breathe, and move through the day without turning every moment into a race.

Therapy does not have to begin at a breaking point.
Sometimes, people come to therapy because they are ready to understand themselves better, set boundaries, improve their relationships, or make choices that feel more aligned with who they are becoming.
It can help someone work through the past while also supporting the life they are building now.
Remember, support does not have to wait until everything falls apart.
It can be a place to heal, reflect, grow, and build a healthier outlook on life. 💙

Studies suggest martial arts may support healthy aging by keeping both the body and mind engaged.
Practices like Tai Chi, karate, judo, and boxing can support movement, focus, controlled breathing, emotional regulation, and social connection.
For older adults, this may help support memory, attention, coordination, confidence, and overall well-being.

Social Benefits of Martial Arts Training in Older Adults Martial arts training practices "drive neuroplastic change within motor, cognitive, and socio-emotional circuits, thereby providing a multilayered trajectory for successful aging."

A lot of old patterns started as ways to feel safe. Reparenting is learning that there are healthier ways to care for yourself now.
Maybe you learned to stay quiet, ignore your needs, or be hard on yourself after a mistake.
Over time, those responses can become the default.
A gentle way to practice is to notice the pattern and choose a healthier response:
💖 When you feel yourself shutting down, pause before reacting.
💖 When you feel guilty for having needs, remind yourself they matter.
💖 When you make a mistake, speak to yourself with care instead of criticism.
These small shifts can help you build internal trust, set healthier boundaries, and take better care of yourself.

A lot of people think feeling SHAME will help them change. ❌Wrong.
For someone struggling with addiction, that feeling can seem like accountability. They may think, “If I feel bad enough, I’ll finally stop.”
But feeling worse does not always address the real underlying issue.
Often, it turns the pain inward until the person starts to believe they are the problem.
From there, the cycle becomes harder to interrupt. They may hide, isolate, and try to recover alone.
When this happens, reflecting on these questions can make a difference:
👉What usually happens before the urge?
👉What feeling is the behavior trying to quiet?
👉What boundaries are needed around stress, isolation, or access?
👉What support could help before the cycle repeats?
Healing begins with understanding what is driving the behavior, learning new ways to respond, and taking the next step with guidance.
