Are you actually eating enough?
When people begin eating more fruit and raw foods, they sometimes make the mistake of eating the same volume of food they were eating before.
But here’s the thing: fresh fruits and vegetables are generally much lower in calorie density than many cooked and processed foods.
That means a small bowl of fruit for breakfast may look beautiful and healthy, but it may not provide enough energy to keep you satisfied until lunch.
Fruit is a meal, not just a snack
This was an important shift for me.
If I’m having fruit for breakfast or lunch, I’m not thinking of it as a little side dish or something to nibble on. It is my meal.
That might mean enjoying a large bowl of watermelon, several mangoes, a generous amount of bananas, or another ripe fruit that I love.
I eat until I feel comfortably satisfied.
And I’ve learned to pay attention to my body’s signals rather than being afraid of eating a generous amount of fruit.
Undereating can catch up with you
You may start your morning with a little fruit and feel wonderful.
Then you have another light meal at lunch.
But by late afternoon or evening, suddenly you’re thinking about all of those foods you were trying not to eat.
Sound familiar?
Before deciding that it’s a lack of willpower, take a moment and ask yourself:
Did I give my body enough energy today?
Sometimes the answer may simply be no.
If your body needs more energy, it makes sense that higher-calorie foods may suddenly become much more appealing.
Don’t be afraid of a satisfying meal
One of the things I love about the 80/10/10 lifestyle is the abundance.
I don’t want people to think that eating healthier means walking around hungry all day!
For me, this lifestyle is about enjoying an abundance of fresh, ripe, whole plant foods while learning to recognize when I’ve had enough.
If you’re transitioning, start paying attention to how much you’re eating and how you feel afterward.
Are you comfortably satisfied?
Do you have good energy?
Are you thinking about food again an hour later?
Are you arriving at dinner absolutely ravenous?
Those observations can tell you a lot.
Try this this week
Choose one fruit meal and make it a real meal.
Pick a ripe fruit you love and eat enough to feel comfortably satisfied. Then notice how you feel over the next few hours.
This isn’t about forcing yourself to eat a certain amount or following someone else’s numbers. Your energy needs are individual and can vary based on your body, activity level, age, and other factors.
It’s about learning to nourish yourself adequately while paying attention to your own body.
Sometimes we focus so much on what not to eat that we forget something equally important:
We need to eat enough of the nourishing foods we are choosing.
So fill that fruit bowl, enjoy your meal, and nourish yourself with abundance. 🍉🥭
And if you’re transitioning toward a vegan, raw vegan, or low-fat raw vegan lifestyle and aren’t sure whether you’re eating enough or how to structure your meals, this is something I can help you with through my Juli’s Way coaching.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
With love and vibrant health,
Juli

One of the things I’ve learned on my healing journey is that eating healthier doesn’t mean cravings suddenly disappear.
Sometimes I still think about foods I used to love. I can picture the meal, remember the flavors, and for a moment think, “Maybe just this once.”
But then I remind myself of something much more important:
How do I want to feel afterward?
For me, that question changes everything.
I know how I feel when I nourish my body with fresh, whole, living foods. I feel lighter. My digestion is better. I have more energy. I sleep better. And most importantly, I feel like I’m honoring the commitment I made to myself and my health.
A craving is not a command
When a craving comes up, you don’t have to fight with it or feel guilty for having it.
You can simply notice it.
Sometimes cravings come from habit. Sometimes they’re connected to memories, emotions, social situations, or simply seeing and smelling familiar foods.
And sometimes we may just be hungry.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned following a low-fat raw vegan lifestyle is the importance of eating enough. Fruit is naturally lower in calorie density than many of the foods we may have eaten in the past. If we consistently undereat, it can make higher-calorie foods much more tempting.
So before assuming you lack willpower, ask yourself:
Have I eaten enough today?
Make the healthy choice the easy choice
Keeping ripe fruit available has been incredibly helpful for me.
When you’re truly hungry, having watermelon ready to cut, ripe bananas on the counter, grapes washed, or another favorite fruit within reach can make a tremendous difference.
And don’t be afraid to eat a satisfying amount.
A tiny bowl of fruit may not be enough to carry you through several hours. Learning to eat enough fresh fruit to meet your energy needs can be an important part of making this lifestyle sustainable.
Remember your “why”
When I’m tempted by an old favorite, I think beyond those few minutes of pleasure.
I remember why I chose this path.
I remember how far I’ve come.
And I remember how I want to feel tomorrow morning.
Every choice doesn’t have to be perfect. This is about continuing to move in the direction you want your life and health to go.
If you’re transitioning toward a vegan, raw vegan, or low-fat raw vegan lifestyle and find yourself struggling with cravings, food choices, or simply figuring out what and how much to eat, I would love to support you.
Through Juli’s Way coaching, I help people create a realistic transition that works with their lifestyle while keeping the focus on simple, nourishing whole foods.
You don’t have to change everything overnight.
Sometimes the next right choice is simply choosing the fruit that’s already sitting on your counter. 💜
With love and vibrant health,
Juli

A great way to start the day! My little breakfast feast after my yoga practice. I truly hope you’re starting your day with Fruit. If you’re starting your day with coffee and processed food, such as box cereal, or oatmeal you’re robbing yourself of the true foods that were designed to eat.
🌧️ A Rainy September Day in Florida 🌿
Today is one of those rainy September days in Florida—the kind of day that makes you want to cozy up at home with a good book, slow down, catch up on a few emails, and maybe tackle a few little chores around the house.
I started my morning with yoga on the back porch while listening to a beautiful thunderstorm rolling through. 🧘♀️⛈️ There’s something so peaceful about stretching, breathing deeply, and simply listening to the rain fall around me.
Now I’m enjoying a colorful bowl of local dragon fruit along with some juicy grapes and berries. 🐉🍇🫐 Simple, fresh, hydrating, and absolutely delicious.
Days like this remind me that slowing down can be just as nourishing as being productive. Sometimes the rain gives us permission to stay home, turn inward, and simply enjoy the little things. 💜🌿
Feeling grateful for this peaceful Florida day and all the beautiful abundance nature provides. 🌧️🍇✨
This way of living—slowing down, nourishing my body with fresh living foods, moving gently, and becoming more connected to nature—is so much of what Juli’s Way is about. It’s also what I love sharing with others through my holistic lifestyle and plant-based coaching. 🌿
If you’re feeling inspired to make a few positive changes of your own, you’re always welcome to reach out and learn more. 💜
