PathwayAI Lyme Disease Patient Journey & Economic Burden Survey 09/17/2026

Lyme disease patients โ€” we want to hear from you. ๐Ÿ’š

If you have been impacted by Lyme disease, please take a few minutes to complete this patient survey:

The PathwayAI team is gathering patient experiences through the HHS TOPx Tech Sprint to better understand the Lyme disease patient journey and the broader impact of the disease โ€” including diagnostic delays, healthcare costs, lost work, disability, and the impact on patients and their families.

The more patients who respond, the better the data can reflect what the Lyme community is actually experiencing.

Please take a few minutes to share your experience, and share this post so we can reach as many Lyme disease patients as possible. ๐Ÿ’š

Eight years ago, I came up with an idea to help other people afford Lyme disease treatment after my own horrific battle with the disease.

In 2017, I was 26 years old and was dealing with a systemic, undiagnosed illness that included symptoms like heart problems, seizures, and neuropathy. A year before, in 2016, I had to leave my graduate program, where I was studying biochemistry and loving what I was doing.

In June 2017, I was diagnosed by a nurse in the hospital who sent me to my current Lyme doctor, Dr. Jody Greenfield, who saved my life.

A year into treatment, I kept waking up from nightmares thinking of all the people who couldnโ€™t afford treatment.

In July 2018, I came up with the rough idea of the foundation. My family helped me come up with the name, and I incorporated the Lyme Treatment Foundation on August 1, 2018.

I was still too sick to actually start the nonprofit, so we officially launched in February 2019.

Since then, weโ€™ve awarded 581 testing and treatment grants, funded research at the University of Oxford, had our billboard up in Times Square, advocated on Capitol Hill and won awards that gave us more publicity and helped us fundraise harder.

Never in my wildest dreams, when I started the Lyme Treatment Foundation from my bed, did I imagine it would become what it is today.

Iโ€™m so proud of what weโ€™ve accomplished so far, but I think the next eight years will be even bigger.

Thank you for all your support. We canโ€™t wait to help more people in 2027.

Keep fighting. ๐Ÿ’š

Today is the final day our billboard is up in Times Square. ๐Ÿ’™

For more than two months, โ€œLyme disease is real. Treatment saves lives.โ€ has been seen by millions of people passing through one of the busiest intersections in the world.

For so many patients who have felt dismissed or unseen, seeing those words displayed publicly meant more than we can put into words.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who followed along, shared the campaign, and helped amplify a message that matters so deeply to the Lyme community. ๐Ÿ’™ And a special thank you to our founder, Wendy PhillipsWendy Phillips for creating this Times Square campaign and bringing the message to millions.

Learn more about what we do at LymeTreatmentFoundation.org, and if this message moved you, consider supporting our mission. Together, we can help even more patients access testing and treatment.

Tom and Zendayaโ€™s wedding is set to take place at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, England.

However, despite the stunning venue, one visitor previously contracted Lyme disease after being bitten by a tick while walking the grounds of the castle.

Despite tick concerns, the couple have decided to go on with the event, insisting that their guests be banned from entering the grassy section of the grounds where the tick bite apparently occurred.
