Buffalo Monroe

We tend to check one of the radio trades just about every morning to see if we got any spins in the last 24 hours.

Woke up to a nice treat today: 3 different songs being played on 3 different stations all within the last day.

The Weather Man got a spin in St. Louis. (featuring Dana Colley)
Social Excitement got a spin in Chicago. (featuring Vinnie Amico)
Falling Leaves got a spin in North Carolina. (featuring Maestro Ron Carter)

Fun fact: Social Excitement is an improvised jam in the truest sense. 2nd tune we played/made in a session with Vinnie Amico behind the kit in October 2022. We just got done making 'Willie Meets the Bull' - one take - and then Willie asked me what's next. I said lets do something funky and then started thumpin' n' pluckin' and the band jumped right in. First take (only attempt) is what we got on the recording.

The Weather Man was played on the radio in St. Louis on Triton Radio two times in the last 24 hours!!! 🫠☮️💜

Fresh off the press:
The lyric video for 'The Weather Man'
☮️💜

The weather man said
It was gonna be a nice day today
It is just what the weather app said

It's raining?
It is just what the weather man said
I don't know what to believe anymore

And the next day
The same thing happened again
I think it's personal

Always not what they say
Supposed to be a sunny day
But it rained
What they say
Supposed to be a sunny day
But it rained

It wasn't supposed to rain
But it rained anyways

Something to talk about, ladies and gents… A new release from Buffalo Monroe featuring Yours Truly on two tracks: “Dorian Interludes” and “Falling Leaves.”

The album, entitled “Buffalo Monroe Meets Willie Waldman,” is now available to be streamed wherever music can be found… I do recommend giving it a listen ;)

Other talents involved: Rachel and Matt Courtney (writers and producers), Willie Waldman, Ross Rice, Harold McCummings, Vinnie Amico, and Clint Wagner, among others. Here we are at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn to record a few months back.

Very much looking forward to seeing/hearing this!

Today I’m wishing a happy birthday to Norah Jones, a talented young musician with whom I have recently had the pleasure of finding THOSE notes.

Ms. Jones is an American singer-songwriter and musician whose voice and artistry have resonated around the world with rare grace and depth. Born in New York City a few years ago today, she emerged onto the music scene with her 2002 debut, Come Away With Me, a blend of jazz, country, blues, and pop which earned her multiple Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist.

Over the years, Ms. Jones has continued to expand her creative range with a series of critically and commercially acclaimed albums, garnering a total of ten Grammy wins and selling tens of millions of records worldwide. Known for her warm, luminous voice and thoughtful songwriting, she has also collaborated with a wide array of artists, acted in film, and explored varied musical forms, always anchored by a singular sense of musical integrity.

There’s something very special on the horizon regarding Ms. Jones and myself… A discerning listener may wish to keep an eye on her podcast, “Norah Jones is Playing Along” 😉

Happy birthday, Ms. Jones.
