Notch Run Club

Tomorrow, the torch is being passed at our Brighton run! Matt and Morgann built our Thursday and Saturday runs at Notch’s location in the Charles River Speedway from Day 1. Now, after 5 years of meters, liters, and community building, they are promoting themselves to ‘club members’ and handing the leadership role to Tor O’Brien. Thank you Matt and Morgann for all of your efforts!

Tor has been running with Notch for 5+ years, manages the brunt of our team volunteering efforts at local races, and was a recipient of one of our invitational bibs to the New York City Marathon this year. Brighton is in good hands. Tor knows his way around both meters and liters. Welcome Tor!

Great day for running in the woods and/or chugging .5L of foam at Oktoberfest. Well done Anna Shields who topped the women’s podium!

Congratulations to our Men and Women of the Race from the 8k Championship!! These athletes each had a fantastic day out on the course and made major contributions to the team either through performance or supporting their teammates, or both. Race Day is special and demanding, and these men and women stepped up!

Danny Cosgrove had a big month racing on mountains and roads, pulling an Athlete of the Month nod, and landing a New England Runner Mag cover. And he’s just getting started.

We have a lot to catch up on before we can even talk about RunFest! Last week was also the annual Lynn Woods relay! Always a run night with the community. We entered 14 teams, won men’s and women’s titles, and served 78 of the finest hot dogs even see in these parts. Well done to everyone who ran! 🌭 🏃‍♀️

Notch Run Club at Vermont 100 🏔️
What a weekend for Notch! Six of us took to the trails to experience the legendary Vermont 100 in West Windsor, embracing a different kind of challenge on trail and ultra terrain. In the 100K, Patrick Hogan finished 17th overall and 4th in his age group, uncrewed and undeterred even by a roadside black bear crossing his path. Jennifer Jenkins ran a great race with Adam Bellatreche pacing her home, and Jacques Guyette pushed through his longest race yet to a strong, well-earned finish. In the 100-Mile, Kelly Clinton and Colin Smith took on Vermont’s relentless rollers, with Stephen Bennett rounding out the 100-Mile crew, and Scott Snyder offering his pacing services along the way. Every single one of them came back changed by it, tested, humbled, and already talking about going back. So proud of this crew.

2x USATF-NE Mile Champ: Danny Cosgrove. Well done to Danny on his title defense and to all the Notch runners out there hitting PRs and other meaningful goals.

Our men’s team placed first yesterday, on the back of Danny’s performance. Our women placed 2nd lead by Anna Shields in her debut for Notch with a strong race!
