Proud of our “searing performance of one of the most successful new operas of the 21st century” (Musical America) at The Glimmerglass Festival
After smoke problems affected our final dress rehearsal and postponed our first performance, the cast, orchestra, crew, and company battled through adversity to finally tell this meaningful and complex love story on stage. It takes a village and this village is one I want by my side when the pressure is on. Can’t wait to continue our run of five more performances next month!

27 years after Jim Lowe and I were in the Houston Grand Opera studio together as pianist/coaches, we are finally working together for the first time, both conducting productions this summer at the The Glimmerglass Festival !
Fun fact: Jim was also my immediate predecessor as Music Director of the Butler Opera Center at the The University of Texas at Austin

A bittersweet end to the season with it being ‘s last concert as Executive Director.
However, all of our important community-building initiatives were on display this beautiful afternoon as 23 young musicians joined us on stage for Beethoven’s Egmont, our two concerto competition winners performed their solos with passion, had the premiere of his Sound Investment commission, and our Audience Choice piece, Schubert’s Symphony No. 3, was played with flair by our terrific musicians.
Can’t wait for next season!

Last performance!
It’s always bittersweet… For artists, it’s a combination of sadness at the thought of leaving the temporary family that has gathered for weeks in an agreement to build and present something that is beautiful, fun, honest and uniquely us, and the joy in getting to collaborate one more time before going our separate ways.
We choose this time and time again, knowing the challenges of being on the road away from our loved ones, the physical toll, and mental adjustments, because it’s something our souls cannot live without. It is who we are!
Thank you, ! Hope to see you again soon!

One of the advantages of working in a big city for an extended period is the opportunity to support performances by other storied ensembles such as the So happy to have experienced Andris Nelsons leading a beautiful Sibelius 1 this afternoon while also supporting two Tanglewood Fellows in their BSO debut with so much respect.
