🇮🇹 Four centuries of Italian music. One extraordinary weekend.

The X-tet returns with Sounds of Italy, bringing together the drama, virtuosity, and beauty of Italian Baroque and Renaissance music. Joined by GRAMMY® Award-winning soprano Amanda ForsForsythe and viola da gamba player Cristiano Contadin, the ensemble travels from Vivaldi and Albinoni to rarely heard works by Maria Teresa Agnesi and Antonio Archileixpect soaring vocals, dazzling strings, and a few surprises along the way — including a spirited Tarantella Gargano and a new work by Colin Jacobsen.

For International Music Day, we’re revisiting one of our favorite musical plot twists: ABBA’s Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight), arranged for Baroque orchestra.

Originally from Sweden, this one made its way across the Atlantic to Boston, then over to France, and back again—this time by way of period instruments. 😉

Arranged for Baroque orchestra for Maestro by .

Because great music doesn’t stay in one century, one country, or one genre. 🎶🪩

Happy International Music Day!

Thunder. Sunlight. Storms. Celebration. Haydn’s The Seasons is music on an elemental scale.

In rehearsal, you can already feel it: the rush of the orchestra, the force of the chorus, and those moments when 87 performers become one enormous, exhilarating sound.

Come feel it for yourself. THIS SUNDAY at 2PM at Jordan Hall.
