I’ll probably get criticized for saying this again — but I’m okay with that.

This is WHY, for adopters 70+, we require a younger co-adopter/family member — and even then, we don’t always approve puppies or young pets.

Last week: an owner passed away. His cat was left behind. Nobody in the family wanted him.

Yesterday: an owner went into a nursing home.

And now meet Ace & Max — just 2 and 4 years old. 💔🐶🐶

I know, I know: “70+ are people too!”
Of course they are. But rescue isn’t only about finding a home today. It’s about making sure that animal has a home tomorrow too.

So criticize our policy if you want. We’re keeping it.

Ace & Max need a FOREVER home. ❤️

When I’m asked again why, for adopters over 70, we usually require a co-adopter or younger family member — and why even then we often consider only adult pets — this is why.

Yes, I hear the criticism: “People over 70 deserve pets too.”
Of course they do. But as a rescue, our responsibility is not only to find a home today. It is to think about what may happen to that animal tomorrow.

And sadly, we see this far too often.

Last week, a landlord called us. An elderly owner had passed away. The cat was left behind — and no family member wanted him.

Yesterday, another call. A gentleman had to move into a nursing home.

And now these two boys are with us. 💔🐶🐶
Meet Ace and Max, only 2 and 4 years old.

They did nothing wrong. Their owner did nothing wrong by getting older. But animals can live 10, 15, even 20 years — and someone has to have a plan for them.

This is why our policy exists. Not because we don’t respect older adopters, but because we have seen too many pets suddenly left with nowhere to go.

Ace and Max now need their next — and hopefully forever — family. ❤️
