I never planned to create a hair extension brand.

For more than 20 years, I was simply trying to deliver the best possible results to my clients, but I kept running into the same problem.

The women sitting in my chair, especially those with fine, thinning hair and complex color needs, didn’t fit into the one-size-fits-all approach that so many extension brands were built on.

I found myself blending colors that didn’t quite exist, combining textures, mixing densities, and customizing hair that was never designed with my clients in mind. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still have to do this for some clients, it’s part of the artistry. I’m finding now that, with access to my own brand, I can be more curated and, initially, with my clients’ results. Over time, I realized I wasn’t just customizing applications but the hair itself. That was the moment everything changed.

I didn’t create Sew Extra™ Couture Hair to sell hair.

I created it because I believed extension artists deserved collections that supported their craft, and women deserved hair that looked as though it naturally belonged to them.

Why do these shades exist?

It’s a question we asked ourselves every time we added a color to the Sew Extra™ Couture Hair collection.
Many extension brands build color collections by adding more shades.

We built ours by solving an extension specialist’s problems.

Every color in our collection exists to help extension artists create more believable, seamless, and customized results. Some shades were developed for women with fine hair who need softness and dimension without harsh contrast.

Others were selected to help artists bridge the gap between two existing colors and create a more natural blend. Some exist because real hair doesn’t come in perfect swatches. It comes with depth, variation, warmth, coolness, and character.

What is one color or blend you wish more extension companies offered?

Mass markets are created in boardrooms and only care about selling you hair. They don’t care about you offering a service that aligns with your goals.

We built Sew Extra™ Couture Hair around something entirely different. After more than two decades behind the chair, Lesley saw the same problem over and over again. Women with fine, thinning, low-density hair or complex color needs were being forced into one-size-fits-all extension solutions that weren’t designed for them. She spent most of her time customizing other brands to fit her clients.
