CLF is fighting for a better future for all New Englanders.

Happy Octopus Day! šŸ™ We brought Miss Abyss to New England to share the message: Our ocean is not for sale.

Octopuses like Miss Abyss will be just one of countless species harmed or killed if the Trump administration allows seafloor mining in the Atlantic. Destructive, extractive mining would irreparably harm vibrant seabed habitats, and the animals that call them home.

Take a break from the news to celebrate a win for Atlantic cod! 🐟

NOAA is taking an important step toward rebuilding cod populations by requiring new and improved recovery plans that use the latest science.

Hundreds of you joined our campaign calling for science-based action, and together, we’ve achieved a necessary victory to set New England’s beloved fish on a path to recovery.

Here’s to healthier oceans and a future for one of New England’s most iconic fish. šŸ’™

Protect the forests you love 10/06/2026

Some of the wildest places in our national forests are wild precisely because they don’t have roads running through them. šŸŒ²āŒšŸ›£ļø

Roadless areas provide habitat for wildlife, protect clean water, and offer places for people to hike, camp, fish, ski, hunt, and experience forests with fewer signs of development. Here in New England, that includes roadless areas in the White Mountain National Forest.

The Forest Service is considering a proposal that would remove the nationwide Roadless Rule and change how these areas are protected.

The public comment period ends TODAY, October 6. Tell the Forest Service to keep protections for our roadless forests:

Protect the forests you love Trump’s Forest Service wants to remove protections against new roads and logging in parts of our national forests. Add your voice by October 6 to protect clean water, wildlife, and the places you love.

The ocean floor is not an empty landscape waiting to be mined.

Deep beneath the surface are coral gardens, sponges, sea vents, underwater mountains, and ecosystems we’re only beginning to understand. Yet the Trump administration is pushing to expand deep-sea mining — a practice that could permanently damage these habitats, disrupt ocean food webs, threaten fisheries, and put already endangered North Atlantic right whales at even greater risk.

And for what? Minerals that we’re increasingly finding ways to use less of and aren’t necessary for a clean energy future.

It’s National Drive Electric Month! āš”šŸš—

Think you can’t go electric because you rent? Think again.

CLF’s Emma Keaney shares her experience going electric, from taking her electric car (named Bubbles! 🫧) all over New England to how speaking up for working charging stations made a difference in her community.

Let’s keep working toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to drive electric. ⚔

More gas, more pollution, BUT same miles? Unacceptable. That’s why we’re taking Trump to court. Less efficient cars mean more money spent at the pump and more pollution in the air.

Federal rules required automakers to improve gas mileage in new cars and trucks. The Trump administration is lowering the bar. CLF and our partners are suing to stop them. We're taking this fight to court to protect drivers' wallets, reduce harmful pollution, and defend standards that help make vehicles more affordable to own and operate.

In a win for Maine’s waters, a judge has ruled that CLF’s lawsuit against Cooke Aquaculture can move forward – bringing us one step closer to holding one of the world’s largest salmon producers accountable for Clean Water Act violations.

Cooke operates 13 salmon farms along Maine’s coast, where millions of salmon are raised in massive cages. Beneath those cages? Fish waste, uneaten food, and dead fish accumulating on the seafloor and polluting the waters that Maine’s communities, lobstermen, fishermen, and wildlife depend on.

The fight for clean water goes on. šŸ’ŖšŸŒŠ

Climate resilience isn’t just about responding after a disaster. It’s about preparing before one happens with stronger building codes, better flood risk maps, resilient infrastructure, green spaces that can absorb stormwater, and resources for communities facing increasing risks.

States have a critical role to play in making sure New England is ready.

Tell your state leaders: it’s time to invest in climate resilience.

Healthy farms need healthy land. 🌾

A YES vote on Question 6 will create a permanent Nature for All Fund to conserve farms, forests, wildlife habitat, and other lands that are essential to Massachusetts communities.

And it does it without creating any new taxes by dedicating a portion of existing sales tax revenue from sporting goods to conservation.

Vote YES on Question 6 to protect the farms and open spaces that make Massachusetts special.

Help us name some whales!
Every year, we get to submit name suggestions for North Atlantic right whales. Below are three whales who need names — comment with your favorite for each one!

These critically endangered whales are named based on their unique markings, which helps researchers recognize and track them in the wild. That recognition is a key part of protecting them, especially as the government attacks policies that safeguard right whales.

Every bit of visibility helps these whales survive. Please vote below! šŸ‹šŸ—³ļø
