Our next public program “Great Decisions: Multilateral Institutions”is coming up!
Tomorrow, Vesko Garčević, Daniel O’Connor, and Ambassador Mark C. Storella will join the Boston community for a timely discussion on the evolving role of multilateral institutions and the challenges facing international cooperation today.
Drawing on decades of experience in diplomacy and international affairs, our speakers will offer firsthand perspectives on the forces shaping global cooperation. Ambassador Storella, a former U.S. Ambassador and career Foreign Service Officer, served as Ambassador to Zambia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration, and Dean of the Leadership and Management School of the Foreign Service Institute. His diplomatic career also includes postings in Brussels, Geneva, and Phnom Penh.
From European security and diplomacy to the role of small states and the future of global affairs, the conversation will examine the institutions, relationships, and challenges shaping international cooperation today.

The Greenroom Scholars program gives students around the Boston area a chance to be in the room where it happens. Scholars have the opportunity to personally ask questions to our panel of speakers before the event, as well as the chance to network with event attendees afterwards.

The next member of WorldBoston’s sports diplomacy Roster is Ryan Liss ⚾️🌎

Here, we’re switching things up a little. Ryan is on the baseball team at Babson college, and serves as a prime example that you don’t need a professional title to participate in sports diplomacy. Ryan recently had the opportunity to participate in the “Bond with Kulialang” China- U.S. Youth Baseball exhibition, where he met with provincial governors and ministry officials, but most importantly connected with Chinese athletes over sport. The next member of WorldBoston’s sports diplomacy Roster is Alejandro Auffant ⚾️🌎

Originally from Puerto Rico, Alejandro has spent his whole life using sports as a way to bridge cultural divides. Currently, Alejandro works for the Boston Red Sox as their Government and Neighborhood affairs coordinator, connecting people geographically through their shared love of baseball. For Alejandro, sports have never been just about what happens on the field— they’re about the people, communities, and work that goes into making every moment possible.

WorldBoston was delighted to join our partners at Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s CAPT Cuffe Global Institute as part of the World Leadership Program 2026.
On Monday, August 17, WorldBoston President and COO Sarah Sibley met with international cadets for an engaging conversation about global citizenship, encouraging them to think beyond borders, embrace different perspectives, and consider the role they can play as future leaders in an increasingly interconnected world.
At WorldBoston, we believe meaningful dialogue and cross-cultural exchange are essential to building stronger global connections. Through maritime diplomacy, opportunities like this bring international perspectives to Massachusetts, connect future leaders across borders, and create relationships that extend far beyond the classroom.
