What if we created more pathways into teaching?
A new OECD Education Working Paper, Alternative Pathways into Teaching: Broadening Access and Expanding Diversity, explores how alternative pathways can open the teaching profession to a broader and more diverse pool of candidates.
We’re proud that BTR is featured in the report as an example of an alternative pathway into teaching—and especially excited to see the work of our community recognized as part of this larger conversation about the future of the teaching profession.

We’re grateful to Representative Christopher Worrell for championing a $100,000 state earmark to support BPE’s Educator Career Pathway!
This important investment will help us continue creating pathways for educators to enter and advance in the profession, strengthening opportunities for both educators and the students they serve.
Many thanks to Representative Worrell for his leadership and advocacy, and to Ways and Means Chairs Representative Aaron Michlewitz and Senator Michael Rodrigues, as well as Governor Maura Healey, for their support of this important investment in education and our workforce.
Thank you for believing in the power of educators and the impact they have on our communities!

What happens when teachers get the opportunity to step out of the classroom and into the world of research? Their students benefit, too. 🏫
Boston Teacher Residency (BTR) graduate Sarah Barrington spent part of her summer immersed in a research program at Boston University, gaining hands-on experience, working alongside researchers, and exploring new resources and ideas she can bring back to her classroom.
We love seeing BTR grads continue to grow as educators—and bringing those experiences directly to their students. Sarah’s summer of research will continue to shape her teaching throughout the school year.
Check out this great feature from BU Today to learn more about Sarah’s experience and the work she’s bringing back to her classroom: bu.edu/articles/2026/research-program-for-boston-high-school-teachers/

Throwing it all the way back to Day 1. 💙
In 2013, Dudley Promise Corps began with a vision: harness the power of national service to support Boston students, strengthen school communities, and develop the next generation of leaders.
These photos from our very first day capture the beginning of something that would grow into 13 years of service, relationships, leadership, and community.
Over the years, 217 corps members served in BPE schools — tutoring and mentoring students, creating enrichment opportunities, engaging families, supporting school communities, and building relationships that reached far beyond the classroom.
But before the impact, before the alumni stories, before the countless student and community connections, there was Day 1.
Today, we look back with so much gratitude for where it all began — and for every corps member, student, family, school partner, and community leader who became part of the Dudley Promise Corps story.
13 years. 217 corps members. Countless lives impacted. A legacy that continues.
