DermYoung
Skincare bridging aesthetics and wellness, founded by Harvard-trained doctors. For radiant skin at any age, race, or gender.
The story of DermYoung begins with its founder, Dr. Yang Sui Brooks, a skin biologist, who
created a skincare product for her mother as a New Year’s gift. Crafted with scientific expertise and instilled with love, this gift quickly gained popularity for one simple reason — its effectiveness. Now, it is our pleasure to make this gift available to you.

Millet was famous for making ordinary working people monumental.
Yet in Spring, the humans are almost invisible.
Look closer.
The humans are tiny, but their traces are everywhere—the cultivated earth, the orchard, the paths. And beneath an immense, turbulent sky, an adult holds a baby.
Darkness and illumination.
The adult and the child.
What we can shape, and what we cannot control.
We cannot command the storm or stop the seasons from changing.
But we can plant.
We can nurture.
We can protect.
We can hold someone through the storm.
And one day, the child becomes the adult.
We cannot control everything that touches us.
But we can nurture what is ours to protect.

SKIN UNDER
What you see is only the surface.
A wrinkle. A dark spot. Redness. Texture.
We name what we can see.
But skin is alive—and its story begins underneath.
Cells communicate. Signals change. Barriers break and rebuild. Skin responds, adapts, remembers.
In our new SKIN UNDER series, we go beneath the visible to explore the biology behind the skin we see.
Because sometimes, to understand what’s happening on the surface,
you have to look underneath.

SCIENCE-DRIVEN SKIN WELLNESS
Skin health is more than what we see on the surface.
We look deeper—at the biology of the skin, the signals that shape its behavior, and what it needs to restore balance and function at every stage of life.
Because when skin is truly healthy, beauty follows.
Beauty is a side effect of healthy skin.

Healthy aging means more to us than looking younger.
At DermYoung, it reflects a larger philosophy of health, skin, and beauty:
Whole-body wellness is our vision.
Skin is our entry point.
Skin Under is our approach.
Skin harmony is what we seek.
Beauty is a side effect of healthy skin.
We begin with skin because it is our most visible and accessible organ. But we look beneath the surface—supporting healthy cellular function and working with the skin’s biology rather than relying on excessive intervention.
Because healthy aging isn’t about fighting time.
It’s about helping our biology live well with it.

Women’s health is not one chapter. It is a journey through many stages.
From reproductive years to pregnancy, hormonal transitions, menopause and beyond, a woman’s skin changes alongside her body. Yet these changes are too often treated as separate concerns rather than part of her overall health and well-being.
On Women’s Equality Day, DermYoung is proud to introduce the DermYoung Women’s Wellness Program in partnership with OB/GYN practices that share our belief in caring for women through every stage of life.
By bringing science-driven skin wellness into women’s healthcare, we hope to create a more thoughtful and connected approach to care—one that recognizes skin not simply as appearance, but as part of how a woman feels, heals and lives.
We are grateful to our first Women’s Wellness partners and look forward to welcoming more OB/GYN and women’s health practices into the DermYoung community.
For every woman. For every stage.

Seborrheic keratosis (SK) is defined as a benign outgrowth of the epidermis.
As an outgrowth, SK grows beyond the normal architecture of the epidermis. Yet as a benign condition, its growth remains limited—it does not continue unchecked like a malignant tumor.
So how can SK embody these two seemingly opposing forces—excessive growth and growth restraint—at the same time?
The answer may lie in the remarkable checks and balances built into our skin.
Over a lifetime, our skin accumulates molecular changes. UV radiation can damage DNA, and genomic studies of SK have identified UV-associated mutational signatures, along with mutations in growth-promoting genes such as FGFR3 and PIK3CA.
These changes can push epidermal cells toward excessive proliferation.
But growth is only half the story.
The epidermis constantly balances proliferation with differentiation. Cells are instructed not only when to grow, but also when to mature, differentiate and eventually leave the epidermis.
In SK, growth-promoting signals may have changed, while important mechanisms that restrain unlimited growth remain at work.
The accelerator is pressed.
But the brakes are still working.
Or, in the language of our Garden:
The seed has changed.
But the soil is still keeping it in check.
And, as we established in Part 1, people really want SKs gone.
Doctors freeze them, burn them, scrape them or cut them off. The internet gets even more creative. 😏
These approaches can effectively remove the SK that’s already there.
But removing one rock doesn’t change the soil.
Aging and sun-exposed skin carries a lifetime of accumulated molecular changes, and new SKs can continue to develop independently over time.
So what can we do?
The second image shows one of the cases that made us think differently.
This dermatologist-confirmed SK gradually diminished following application of DermYoung Youth Essence®. Application was discontinued.
At the one-year follow-up, the lesion remained absent.
No freezing.
No burning.
No scraping.
Just an observation that left us with a very interesting question:
What changed?
We have our thoughts.
For now, we’ll leave you with this:
Skin is not simply a surface. It is a living system constantly negotiating between growth and differentiation, damage and repair, accumulation and renewal.
Sometimes, perhaps, the most interesting approach isn’t simply to remove the rock.
It’s to understand the soil.
Restoring Skin Harmony.
