My mission this fall is to add more whimsy to my life!

I live just a few minutes from Salem and what better place to find some whimsy?!

The The Sea Wych Salem is very whimsical - it’s the city’s only shop dedicated to sea and water magic. I created my own spell jar filled with sea salt, sea vegetation, herbs, shells and gems.
You pick as much as you can fit in the jar and tie it up with an intention.

You can walk right into the shop right on Essex streets to make your spell jar or buy a kit online - they host events and workshops as well.

In a couple of days, Claire starts Pre-K at the big kid school so we are savoring every moment of the last few summer evenings. 😭

ALSO I forgot how fun flying a kite is! 10/10 recommend. We started with a dollar store Elsa kite and moved on to a giant whale.

The 42nd annual Gloucester Gloucester Schooner Festival is September 3–6, when historic schooners from near and far fill Gloucester Harbor for one of the most beautiful weekends of the year.

A few highlights:

• Thursday + Friday: Schooner Challenge, deck tours, public sails and the Gloucester Block Party
• Saturday: MaritimeGloucester Maritime Heritage Day, schooner deck tours, Parade of Lights + fireworks over the harbor
• Sunday: Parade of Schooners followed by the Mayor’s Cup races

And don’t just watch from shore. You can book public sails throughout the festival and experience the schooners from the water.

Culture Splash runs 4–7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, with the free water shuttle running 4–8 p.m.
