We are thrilled to welcome René LaPointe Jameson to the Tree Boston team as our new Director of Programs. Rene is an experienced community organizer and environmental engineer, and the founder and leader of the Boston HUB of the nonprofit Black Girl Environmentalist. She earned a BS in Environmental Engineering from Tufts University. At Tree Boston, René will oversee our Education and Tree teams and provide operational leadership for the organization. You can see in this photo that she has jumped right in and is already making a difference!

Did you know that Hyde Park is losing tree canopy faster than any other neighborhood in Boston? According to Boston's Urban Forest Plan, this neighborhood was once considered to have a one of the larger tree canopies in the city, but property development and natural tree aging has changed that. Open today, public art project Tree Care Hyde Park celebrates and expands the community of care between urban trees and their human neighbors in Hyde Park through a series of community workshops, textile tree tags, and a mobile printing/planting press. Tree Boston is proud to partner with artist Jane Marsching on this project. We'll be at the Opening Reception this Saturday, 9/12 from 3 to 5 PM.
