IT’S HERE: The Third National Azul Poll: Latinos and the Ocean 2026!
Azul Founder and Executive Director, Marcela Gutiérrez-Graudiņš, shares what this nationwide survey of more than 2,100 Latino voters reveals: an electorate ready for bold action to protect our ocean, climate, health, and future.
The findings challenge outdated political assumptions:
🌊76% support banning offshore drilling and replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy
🌊80% say a candidate’s support for stronger coastal and ocean protections would make them more likely to vote for that candidate
🌊86% say the government has a responsibility to conserve land and ocean areas for present and future generations.
Across political parties, regions, and backgrounds, Latino voters recognize the environmental challenges before us, support concrete government action, and are prepared to make climate and ocean protection a political priority.
The message for policymakers, candidates, funders, and movement leaders is clear: Latino voters are a powerful climate and ocean constituency that cannot be overlooked.

The Governor's Office insists on advancing a budget trailer bill proposal that would create a special carve-out from California's landmark Coastal Act – and the listed conditions apply to one very specific project. 👀

Azul was BUSY last week across California – showing up wherever decisions about our coast and communities were being made.
From Sacramento to Solana Beach, our team defended California’s coastal protections at NOAA’s public hearing, called for stronger protections for California’s MPA Network, spoke out against offshore fracking at the California Coastal Commission, and more!
AND we have a big win to celebrate: the California Coastal Commission voted UNANIMOUSLY to reject the proposal to bring fracking back to Platform Gilda off Ventura County.
These moments show what’s possible when advocates and communities continue to show up and speak out.
But the work is far from over.
