Volante Design

An era of discovery. 

Volante Design has closed and I am in the process of trimming down my operation to only the most essential tools and a space that's about half the size of the Volante studio. But what will I do with this space? 

I'm going to launch a new brand. I love making things. I love designing clothing and useful things for daily life. I love building worlds. I intend to keep doing that. 

Despite having to close Volante Design, I think of it as nothing less than a success. We were profitable at the end of almost every year in business and we survived 13 years, which is longer than at least 30% of all new businesses in the USA. But more importantly, we have an incredible, supportive community, and the rate that you cleared out the Volante warehouse proves to me that I should keep trying.

However, I want to take my time. I want to make sure that I can apply every lesson I have learned from Volante Design, and this time set up something even stronger. I have some ideas that I'm extremely excited about, and I have a renewed energy to build. I'm not ready to share the specifics of this new brand, but I want to take you all along on my journey. 

That's what this channel will be used for from this point on. I will record my thoughts, my design philosophies, my process, and everything I have learned from Volante that I want to apply to the next thing. 

When the time comes, the new brand will have its own social media channels and mailing list, and I will invite you all to follow along there in addition to here, where I will continue to post about my process even after the new brand launches.
