Jay Rice
Played bass for;
VINX, Spencer Day, The Highway, Rusty Scott, Leo Blais, Derek Schanche, The Glass Fracture, Skyfoot, Modus, Big Rhythm Wine, Nick Lancaster, Adam Douglass, Johnny Horner, Mojo Filter, Forgo Famine, Baballoo.
Giant Steps again on Upright, the last video cut out the beginning. I like to use horn lines, bebop
dominate scales but mainly try to stay with the
melody and improvise over it. Traditional upright bass solos are great but I like to play a trumpet or saxaphone line whenever possible. But a horn line isn’t always physically possible on the upright. When it comes to connecting the phrases I think of a drummer putting in a fill to make up for notes I can’t physically hit.

Playing with VINX was a great experience, but more importantly he’s a great mentor and friend..
