Machado Silvetti Partners Stephanie Randazzo Dwyer and Jeffry Burchard are delighted to announce that S. Austin Ward has been promoted to the position of Principal, effective immediately.

Austin’s attention to detail; his insistence on design quality at both the largest scales of urban and public space and the smallest scales where materials meet; his mentorship of others; his dedication to constantly improving himself and the people around him; and his collaborative attitude to clients, colleagues, and all stakeholders are extraordinary professional and personal attributes that we acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate with this promotion.

The Chao Center for Asian Art at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art reflects the legacy of John and Mable Ringling, whose early commitment to Asian art shaped one of the largest museum-university complexes in the country. Set on a 66-acre campus, the museum continues to evolve under Florida State University with over 3,000 custom deep-green glazed terra cotta tiles. The color and chiseled texture of the tiles nod to the ceramic ornamentation of the nearby Cà d’Zan mansion and the surrounding lush landscape.

At the southern gateway to Kuala Lumpur, Tun Razak Exchange redefines the city’s financial core, linking the center to the Golden Triangle and Bukit Bintang. The master plan brings together offices, residences, hospitality, and retail around a new MRT station, walkable streets, and a generous public realm.

At the edge of the desert, Al Ain Oasis has sustained life for over 3,000 years through ancient underground water systems. Commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, Machado Silvetti developed a cultural master plan that preserves the oasis while connecting it to the city.

Completed in 2010, the plan led to UNESCO World Heritage inscription in 2011, and establishes a network of cultural sites, public spaces, and an expanded museum to anchor Al Ain’s future Cultural Quarter.

Anchoring a new arts quad at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, the Barrett Lab Theater sits at the heart of a building designed for movement, connection, and collaboration.

Its flexible performance space supports a wide range of productions, while remaining deeply integrated with classrooms, studios, and workshops throughout the center.

Set within Sheikh Zayed City, Westown Development creates a vibrant mixed-use hub for one of Cairo’s fastest-growing communities. The master plan balances density with open green spaces, giving each neighborhood a distinct identity while encouraging a sense of place and belonging.

At the intersection of campus and community, the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, is designed for both passing moments and deeper engagement.

A porous layout connects galleries, classrooms, and landscape, allowing glimpses of art from outside and views outward from within. Built as both a museum and teaching tool, it brings curation into everyday learning through student galleries, visible storage, and direct access to collections. Concrete and timber volumes create a rhythm of thresholds in which art, movement, and campus life continuously overlap.

At the edge of Boston Harbor, South Boston Waterfront Park creates a vibrant public space where the city meets water.

Part of a larger initiative by the Massachusetts Port Authority, the park was reimagined by Machado Silvetti in collaboration with the Halvorson Design Partnership as a cohesive waterfront landscape with distinct zones for gathering, movement, and recreation. Unified in material yet varied in experience, it brings new opportunities for public life along the harbor.
