We are proud to announce that Montaña Urbana Homes (3371 Washington Street) has officially achieved PHIUS Passive House Certification, recognizing the building's exceptional energy efficiency, sustainability, and resident comfort.

This certification reflects our commitment to creating housing that is not only affordable but also healthy, resilient, and environmentally responsible. Through high-performance design and construction, 3371 Washington Street will deliver lower energy consumption, improved indoor air quality, enhanced comfort, and reduced operating costs for residents and the community.
Developed by JPNDC and New Atlantic Development, this new community provides 39 affordable homes for seniors, ensuring that older adults can age in place in high-quality housing while remaining connected to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood they call home.

Achieving PHIUS certification is a testament to the dedication of our development team, design consultants, contractors, funding partners, and public agencies who shared our vision for a greener and more equitable future.

Together, we are proving that affordable housing can also be sustainable housing.

Health and housing go hand in hand.

Our Real Estate team recently hosted a tour of Cheney Homes for members of JPNDC's Real Estate Committee and Board.

It was a great opportunity to see these homes firsthand and connect around our shared commitment to creating quality housing opportunities.

When complete, Cheney Homes will bring 48 permanently affordable homes to the heart of Grove Hall in Dorchester. JPNDC is building units designed to adapt as residents' mobility needs change, while our partner Uphams Community Care will provide services that support residents as they age.

Together, the housing and services are designed to support seniors in remaining healthy, independent, and age in place with dignity.

**Unseen Hero: Breyana Ellis**

Behind every successful organization is a team making sure the numbers add up—and for JPNDC, one of those people is Breyana.

As our Junior Accountant, Breyana helps keep JPNDC’s financial operations running smoothly through accounts receivable management, month-end accounting support, financial tracking and reporting, and cross-department collaboration. She also supports the development and improvement of financial processes, including our growing grant and donation tracking efforts.

Her attention to detail, adaptability, and willingness to take on new responsibilities help keep JPNDC’s finances organized and moving forward every day.

This month JPNDC welcomed First Teacher, a parent-led early learning community founded in Roxbury in 2013. More than 300 families take part in First Teacher’s workshops, playdates, and book clubs each year.

JPNDC is proud to add the First Teacher name, its team, its programs, and its parent leadership. As part of JPNDC, First Teacher gains a lasting home and their families gain access to JPNDC’s network of licensed home-based early educators for childcare placement, with additional services such as financial coaching, career counseling, credit building support, small business development, and affordable housing navigation support.
