Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project

NEW 📖 "Nearly a century after Denna and Estella Strickland were killed in their own home, this marker will ensure that their names and their story are part of Georgia’s public memory."

On June 13, CRRJ, family members and community partners will gather to dedicate a historical marker to the mother and daughter, killed in 1932 by a law enforcement officer and two white civilians. This dedication also confronts an enduring pattern of racial terror carried out by deputized white citizens in Coweta County. and forces public recognition of a long-suppressed act of racial violence.

The Strickland case was first investigated by a Northeastern University School of Law CRRJ Clinic student in 2021.
