Ugh… this one hurt 🥹

Today I sent my youngest off to school for the first time and I’m realizing just how bittersweet this next chapter feels.

For 8 years, I’ve been figuring out how to be a stay-at-home mom and a full-time business owner. It wasn’t always easy, in fact, most days were really hard. I worked a lot of late nights so I could be home for the naps, the sick days, the slow mornings, the playground trips, and all those ordinary little moments that somehow become the memories you treasure most.

I’ve wanted this day for a long time. I’ve dreamed about having uninterrupted work hours, a little breathing room, and maybe even finishing a cup of coffee while it’s still hot.

But now that it’s here? My heart hurts a little.

A wise mother once described this stage of motherhood to me as a “slow breakup.”

And I think that’s exactly what it feels like.

Heartbreaking…but beautiful. Beautiful because these little rugrats I’ve poured my heart into are becoming more independent. More confident. More themselves. And heartbreaking because, little by little, a piece of them is breaking away from me.

And maybe that’s what motherhood is. Loving them enough to let them go.

So to every mom sending a little one off to school this week whether it’s your first, your only, or your last, I’m right there with you.

And to the moms building a business while raising little ones: keep going. But don’t feel guilty if you need to slow down sometimes. Your business will still be there.

Those little hands, cuddles, messy days and “Mom, watch this!” moments won’t. Soak it all in. They really do grow up way too fast.
