“(in)Visibility: Belonging in the Margins” is a new exhibition featuring artworks by 16 current and former Boston Center for the Arts Studio Residents exploring the theme of (in)visibility.

Across the exhibition, artists reclaim narratives that have been flattened, erased, or distorted. Their work asks: What does belonging mean when the structures that define it were not built equitably? How do we create space for ourselves when we've been pushed to the edges?

In 2024-25 I made my first zine covering performances in a series with numbers going up. "Two Three Four" has the spine with the thread I use in performances. This zine is available (with other awesome art!) at this Saturday 4-7pm Opening Reception for BCA’s ASB Resident Group Show – Attaché. I'll have more at my studio, IMsLBB, and some other places to be announced soon. Or you could drop me a line about mailing. "Two Three Four" is $20 or more if you'd like to support. "Five" is next! The thread that is in the performances is what holds the spine of the zine.

Curated by Meclina Gomes , Attaché gathers artists whose contemporary practices are shaped by inherited culture, migration, and lived lineage. Each artist operates as a cultural attaché, carrying memory, tradition, and embodied knowledge across contexts. Their work explores how origin informs identity, and how culture is activated, translated, and reimagined through material, process, and form.

Grounded in Mills Gallery’s commitment to artist-driven inquiry, the exhibition frames creative practice as legacy work, a deliberate act of honoring the past while shaping what is carried forward.

Join and meet current BCA Studio Residency artists as they open their doors for a building-wide open studios event from 6–9 PM in the Artist Studios Building, located next to the Mills Gallery. I'm in #411 (no elevator.)

This Open Studios event coincides with Attaché: an Artist Studio Building Group Show curated by Meclina Gomes and on view in the Mills Gallery. Together, these experiences offer a layered encounter with contemporary artistic practice from the artists that reside at the Boston Center for the Arts.

In Attaché, artists explore how inherited culture, migration, and lived lineage inform identity and expression. Each artist operates as a cultural attaché, carrying memory, tradition, and embodied knowledge across contexts, activating and reimagining them through material, process, and form.

This evening is both an invitation and a return: a chance to witness the depth of creative work happening within our walls and to meet the artists whose practices are vital not only to the BCA, but to the broader Boston arts community.

"Designed for Deviance," is an evening of immersive artistry that explores the intersections of art, craft, intimacy, Q***rness, authority, and play. 
This collaborative exhibition features q***r and trans artists, activists, organizers, and performers working in the medium of dance, music, piercing, power exchange, rope bo***ge, woodcraft and much more.
For each of these artists, the body is a medium for story telling, often exploring the ways in which sexuality, gender, power, and the built environment all overlap. And each will use their unique craft to respond to and engage with a piece of furniture built to highlight different aspects of q***r identity, sexuality, and aesthetics. This is furniture for Heterotopias, or “worlds within worlds:” cultural and conceptual spaces where deviant behavior is normalized, and where those who live day-to-day under threat and scrutiny make refuge. Here we make our own myths, our own rituals, to alchemize the sublime from the mundane.
The audience will be guided through this heterotopia with the artists, witnessing a world where rhythm and stillness, pleasure and pain, reverence and abjection, trust and precarity, freedom and restraint blend and bleed together. Expect gayness, hotness, weirdness, and a whole lot of feelings.
