Join the Sofra Bakery & Cafe team this October for two special cookbook events featuring award-winning author, Maria Speck of Baking with Ancient Grains and Roxana Jullapat, expert on whole-grain baking and author of Morning Baker.

Maria will be visiting Sofra's Allston location on October 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, where she will demonstrate two recipes from her book, followed by a conversation with Andrew Janjigian, author of Bread Baker’s Companion. The Sofra team will also prepare a variety of Maria's recipes, like Sorghum Cornbread with Spiced Pecans and Tomato-Mozzarella Pie with Spelt Brioche, for attendees to taste before going home with a copy of the book.

Roxana will be visiting Sofra's Allston location on November 5th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. She'll demonstrate a handful of recipes from her book before joining some of Boston’s best bakers for a conversation about fresh-milled wheat, whole grains, and the remarkable flavor they bring to baking. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy a special breakfast-for-dinner buffet, featuring recipes from the book including Quiche, Red Pepper & Goat Cheese Scones and Buckwheat Joy Muffins, then leave with a copy of their own.

Tickets for both events (including a book copy) are $90 per person. Read more about each event here: https://bit.ly/46r7WlK

There are many ways to learn and pass down knowledge. Cooking with your children and grandchildren; or the reverse, looking to one’s older relatives to learn about your own culinary heritage. Collecting cookbooks and using online resources to create new family favorites are excellent ways to embrace heritage foods. Educational travel is one of our favorite ways.

Watching and learning from chefs that travel with us is an integral part of Oldways Culinarias. Read more and get chef recipes from our travels at the link in our bio!
