Shelter Island 10K Run/Walk JOIN US on June 20, 2026 for the Shelter Island 10K Run/Walk!

It was a great 50th celebration in Green Bay Wisconsin this weekend for the Bellin Run . This race has always been one of the most family-oriented events I have ever taken part in. The 49th annual Litchfield Hills Road Race this Sunday will celebrate its rich history as one of New England's best of the best in American Road racing. It's modeled after Tommy Leonard's Falmouth Road Race . It was founded by Joe Concannon and Billy Neller. I won the first one and hope to return for the 50th in 2027. I want to wish all the runners a great race -- beware of Gallows Lane where you must find that "ninth gear"!

I still remember my first visit to the Bellin Run 10k in Green Bay Wisconsin in 1978. Frank Shorter had won the inaugural race. Over the years it attracted a lot of great talents... such as Risper Gesawba from Kenya, Jared Ward, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Uta Pippig, Dan Held - a Wisconsin guy, and so many others--The race was the brain child of the CEO of Bellin Health--George Kerwin. I am looking forward to joining many friends to celebrate the 50th anniversary on Saturday, June 13th. Below see my running log entry-

Sunday afternoon brunch with longtime runners "fans" (we call friends) from New Zealand . A dreary, rainy, cold New England day turned "sunny and bright" with warm food and lively conversation. Thank you to Legend Cafe in Acton MA for allowing us to occupy a table for 3 hrs...they understood that NZ was a long way to come...
