Sense and Humor

As a kid, I quickly found that witty comments and funny retorts got me the attention I craved. As I got older, I’d buy funny cards for family members and celebrated clever puns and quips. Then I discovered there were companies dedicated to making funny, creative gifts, but never imagined at the time that it was possible to make a living off my sense of humor. I grew up, went to college, got a job, got married, had kids. But the craving for “funny” never left me. In 2014, a few weeks before my family convened for Passover, I came up with a product idea. Instead of buying plain paper hand towels for our bathroom, I created embossed ones saying, “Let My People Go.” (For non-Jewish readers, this phrase serves as a nod to Moses’ famous line, but also a reference to a reality of Passover: matzah is notoriously constipating). I posted pictures of them on my personal page, and they went viral. Today I own and operate Sense & Humor, an online shop featuring original and curated gifts.
