Solar energy or agriculture? It doesn’t have to be one or the other. ​

But with approaches like dual-use solar and agrivoltaics, the same land can generate clean energy while supporting agricultural activities like growing crops and grazing livestock. Farmers at BlueWave projects produce a wide variety of agricultural goods, including hay and forage crops, beef, lamb, fruits, vegetables, and even holiday trees.​

Myth: Solar only works when the sun is shining, so it can't be a reliable source of energy.​

Fact: A reliable electric grid depends on a mix of energy sources, and solar is a critical piece of a modern, reliable grid. As battery storage, energy forecasting, and grid technology continue to advance, renewable energy is playing an increasingly important role in powering communities while supporting a more resilient grid.​

Now that was a productive morning! Yesterday, a group of BlueWavers spent the morning volunteering with the Charles River Esplanade Association, helping clean up along the Esplanade. And as you can see, we found plenty to keep us busy!​
