We are so excited to welcome Andrea Arroyo-Swanby as our new Office Manager!

Andrea joins us with more than 15 years of experience in operations, administration, and community engagement. She loves creating organized, welcoming spaces where people feel supported and connected. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys wandering local bookstores, exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and spending time with her wife, their two children, and their mini Goldendoodle, Bashy.

In Andrea’s own words, “I’m beyond grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve the Bothell UMC community. I can’t wait to get to know everyone!”

The disciples looked at the crowd and saw a problem they couldn't solve. So they did the reasonable thing — they started figuring out who had to leave.

Jesus looked at the same crowd and said something different. Nobody has to go away. Bring what you have. And before there was nearly enough — he blessed it.

That's the God this story reveals. One whose first move is compassion. One who refuses to send people away. One who blesses before there's enough.

As Disability Pride Month comes to a close, we're reminded that accessibility is not the finish line but the beginning of a more faithful way of being the church.

This week, we highlight the work of those whose scholarship and ministry challenge us to imagine communities where every person is empowered to lead, contribute, and flourish.

May we continue building churches where justice is practiced, barriers are removed, and the gifts of every member are welcomed as essential to the life of Christ's body.

On Disability Awareness Sunday — the 35th anniversary of the ADA — we named what the church must name: the real sin isn't disability. It's ableism. And we are called to repent of it and repair.

Disabled people are part of God's preferred future. You belong. You deserve better.

Too often, disability is treated as something to explain or overcome. This week, we recognize voices that remind us it is also a source of wisdom where we're invited to see how lived experience can deepen our understanding of faith, challenge long-held assumptions, and reveal new ways of following Christ.

May we have the humility to learn from the voices that too often go unheard and the courage to let those voices transform our communities.
