After thoughtful conversations with community partners, the Washington Recovery Alliance has made the decision to postpone the Voices of Recovery Summit in Spokane until Spring 2027.
As communities across Eastern Washington continue responding to the devastating wildfires, we believe this is the right time to allow our partners and local leaders to focus on the immediate needs of their communities.
We remain committed to bringing the Voices of Recovery Summit to Spokane and look forward to welcoming everyone together in Spring 2027. Additional details will be shared in the coming months.
To our recovery communities across Eastern Washington: we are thinking of you. If your community has been impacted by the fires and you have updates, immediate needs, or opportunities for others to get involved, please reach out. We want to help amplify your message and connect recovery communities across Washington.
Thank you for your understanding, your resilience, and your continued support of one another. ๐

As wildfires continue to impact Spokane, members of our recovery community are finding ways to help one another.
Matthew Blatman aka , an artist in recovery, is using his artwork to support members of the Spokane recovery community impacted by the wildfires.
Through the RKVR Shop, Matthew is helping raise funds for people facing displacement, loss, and uncertainty during this ongoing crisis.
His work reflects the strength of recovery, the power of creativity, and the ways people care for one another during difficult moments.
If you're looking for a way to support the Spokane recovery community, consider purchasing Matthew's artwork or sharing this fundraiser with others. Every act of support helps strengthen a community working to recover together.

Weโre honored to have partnered in this yearโs sold-out King County Substance Use Recovery Conference alongside King County and so many dedicated community partners. WRA was proud to help bring the King County recovery community together for the King County Substance Use Recovery Conference at Renton Technical College.
This gathering would not have been possible without the leadership and partnership of King County, the King County Council and Councilmember Reagan Dunn . We are grateful for their continued commitment to recovery and for helping create space where people with lived experience, families, service providers, educators, public health leaders and community partners could learn from one another.
Keynote speaker Regina LaBelle brought national substance use policy into focus, helping attendees understand how federal decisions shape treatment, recovery supports and local systems of care. Later in the day, she continued that conversation in a more intimate breakout centered on policy, partnership and the collective work required to move recovery forward together.
Across the conference, attendees also explored culturally responsive recovery, crisis care centers and mobile services, recovery and wellness at Renton Technical College, and connected pathways spanning youth outreach, recovery high school, family support and collegiate recovery. The conference program reflected the many environments and relationships that help people begin and sustain recovery.
Thank you to Deaunte Damper, who moderated the Culturally Responsive Recovery panel with Malika Lamont, Hussein Ugas and Alex Broady. Together, they shared an honest conversation about culture, identity, belonging, discrimination, trust, representation and leadership. Deaunte later returned as closing keynote, connecting themes from throughout the day to his own recovery journey and helping bring the conference to a meaningful close.
There is much more to share from this panel, and we look forward to highlighting its lessons and reflections in the days ahead.
We also appreciate Carolyn Presnell for guiding the conference as emcee and Esther Lucero for sharing an update about the new Thunderbird Treatment Center.
A special thank-you goes to Veronica, Nona, Elsa and the entire Renton Technical College team. Their care, flexibility and willingness to go above and beyond supported attendees, presenters and organizers throughout the day.
Thank you to our sponsors, planning committee, presenters, resource partners, volunteers (special thanks to McKayla) and to every person who arrived ready to listen, contribute and strengthen recovery in our communities.
Forward Together.
